The network has brought back its classic Behind The Music series to expose the ills of another fleet of rock stars. Last night, Bobby Brown was the show’s subject and what a story it was. Prepare to hear about the former superstar’s ego-fueled departure from New Edition, insanely successful Don’t Be Cruel album, intense cocaine addiction, and infamous marriage to Whitney Houston on a level that you never have before. R&B singers don’t wild out like this anymore and if you have 40 minutes or so to spare, the chronicles of Bobby’s out-of-control lifestyle are more than worth taking a look at. The Swizz Beatz produced and Alicia Keys penned track, dare we say, actually sounds like a banger. Which, if you think about it, isn’t that surprising. Despite all the turmoil she’s experienced throughout her career—drugs, more drugs and Bobby Brown—Whitney has remained one of the most popular and prolific musical icons of our era. Plus, with her string of smash ’80s singles and hit movies in the ’90s, Whitney was getting Oprah money way before Beyoncé was around. This past weekend Whitney Houston made a triumphant (more or less) return to the spotlight, performing at Clive Davis’s pre-Grammy party on Saturday and presenting at last night’s award ceremony. Sure, she seemed a little crackish nervous at times, but she looked great (holla at a true MILF!) and reports are that she’s cleaned up and ready to return to her past glory.
