Video Games Complex Presents The 25 Most Violent Video Games Ever

vgames
Whether coin-op or console, people have been wringing their hands over video-game violence since before Pac-Man was devouring ghosts whole (ayo!). It’s true that video games have always indulged our adolescent fantasies, and none more so than those revolving around playing with guns—and in some people’s cases, playing with hatchets, chainsaws, and cars. In today’s Grand Theft Auto era, nothing is virtually sacred, but it took a whole lot of trailblazing to get this far. So we at Complex took it upon ourselves to count down The 25 Most Violent Video Games Of All Time. What incited protests in the ’80s may seem quaint now, but don’t forget that rock ‘n’ roll was once the anti-Christ. Let the blame game begin!

Video Games ‘Blitz: The League II’ Zooms In On Breaking Bones

blitzleagueii1.jpg
Midway’s Blitz franchise will never be able to compete with Madden on NFL realism, so thankfully it doesn’t even try. The sequel, Blitz: The League II (Xbox 360, PS3), goes even more absurd than the original with a new bone-breaking injury mode. Players can specifically target a spot on an opponent to injure in a new button-mashing mini-game'time it right, and you get a cinematic close-up of your opponent’s bones shattering (or shoulder dislocating, or muscle tearing, etc). Word is, there’s even a ball-crushing feature…literally. Ouch.

Blitz II ships on October 13. We’ve got an interview with NFL great Lawrence Taylor on the game coming soon, so in the meantime, watch the vicious new Blitz II trailer below…
