If there’s something Vans’ knows how to do well, it’s make collaborations with dope illustrators work well. This month, the skate brand teams up with Robert Crumb, king of “underground comix,” to bring the iconic characters Mr. Natural, Fritz The Cat, and Crumb’s “Modern America” to footwear. In all, Crumb lended his art to four sneakers—the R.Crumb Classic Slip-On ($52), Authentic One Piece LX ($90), Chukka Boot Lx ($95), and a Sk-8 Hi Deconstruct ($60). Every month it seems new colorways of Vans’ most recognizable silo drop, and for August, expect to see retailers stocking this tri-tone red makeup. That’s three different reds on those uppers, for all of you who are giving a big F you to the whole “toning it down for fall” thing. Despite owning one of the hottest street wear brands on the market, when it comes to his personal fashion, Pharrell keeps it surprisingly simple. He may throw on a couple iced out chains, belt buckles and G-Shocks, but beneath the flashy accessories, the Imperial P usually just rocks a t-shirt and jeans (usually BBC Ice Cream) and some Vans.
