At the Las Vegas footwear trade show, we snapped some preview pics of this new Swedish brand that'll have fashion-fiends going nuts.

This week, Las Vegas hosted the very first Compass Trade Show, where we got to check out all of the new product from footwear brands like Creative Recreation, Supra, Alife, Gourmet, Vael, and (pictured above) Sneaky Steve.

Sneaky Steve is produced in Sweden, which makes sense, because any American who names his company something like that deserves a punch in the neck. But we can’t hate on the results. The sneakers are currently available at Oak in NYC, and are designed for the high fashion/tight pants/Lupe Fiasco set. See simple canvas, low profile midsoles, and clean silhouettes from their Spring ‘09 collection below.

Our second round of picks from the NYC streetwear event include dope sunglasses, classic toppers, and a surfer throwback.

Rather than cram all of our favorite brands/standout pieces from the Capsule Trade Show this week into one post, we wanted to give some love to other labels who had strong showings.

After making stops at the Super, ROD NYC and Maui & Sons booths, we left impressed. Check out mini-profiles on the three companies and what their key-pieces were after the jump.

SUPER
retrosuperfuture.com

Although the silhouette has been around for almost a year, Super continues to re-invent their stunner shades. With a bolder shape than a Wayfarer, the unisex frames are universally flattering. Offering tons of color options at an affordable $130, there’s a pair for everyone. Look out for the wood grain frames in their upcoming collections.

ROD NYC
rodnyc.com

This is the brand you want to hit up to get your grown man on. Having already been co-signed by Mos Def, the company that was started by Rod Keenan churns out handmade hats that make for instant class. The timeless shapes and hand-woven straws will instantly take you back to 1950's Cuba-steez. And when it’s cold, look to the fur felts embellished with vintage trims.

Maui & Sons
mauiandsons.com

This classic surf brand has a serious nostalgia factor for all you '80s babies. Along with the brands aggressive re-launch, they’ve collaborated with Opening Ceremony on tees using vintage logos and graphics that rival anything you loved back in grade school. These will be available by the end of August at Opening Ceremony New York, so start saving your duckets now.

Missing out on all the music, bbq, and bullriding? Get a taste of SXSW with our short-list of ways to stay abreast of the fun.

Being outside of the music bubble blows. But with a handy dandy RSS feed we refuse to leave you out in the cold on this week’s SXSW music convention. Here are five ways to still be a part of the festivities:

5. Ustream.tv has photos and recaps, featuring today’s post with the Geico Caveman.

4. Pitchfork Media has a complete list of every event.

3. NPR streams live perfomances everyday. Good times…good times.

2. IFC interviews Kal Penn, John Cho, and Neil Patrick Harris for Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay and a few other filmmakers show their work. No stems, no sticks.

1. Ice Cube teams with Microsoft Silverlight to broadcast his performance this Saturday in Austin, TX.
