The V-Cube Will Leave You Puzzled

vcube1.jpg
The original Rubik’s cube is f-ing hard to solve. Before we had YouTube clips that gave away the secrets to solving Ernő Rubik’s color-coated block, the challenge stumped many an ’80s baby. Now, true brainiacs are gonna have to step their game up if they want to solve the V-Cube, a 7 x 7 x 7 upgrade from the traditional 2 x 2 x 2 cube.

In May 2003, Greek engineer Panagiotis Verdes started sketching designs for a 5 x 5 x 5 flip of Rubik’s design. This year, his so-called “21st Century Cube” hit the market in three different sizes—the V-Cube 5, 6, and 7. On October 26th, he’ll be putting puzzle solvers to the test with the V-Cube’s first brain-busting competition in Germany. Start practicing now by copping one HERE, and watching a speedcuber in the video below…

Kool Keyz Gloves Give You Piano Hands

keyboardgloves.jpg
Whether you play air guitar in your garage band or you like to spazz out on make-believe drums every now and again, the imaginary performance is nothing new. But get ready for a new level of realism with Kool Keyz, a toy that puts musical notes at the tip of your fingers without using an actual instrument.

In the standard key of “C,” each finger plays a note in the scale (A-F), with sounds that mimic the piano, violin or guitar. The audio output is amplified through a tiny speaker that clips onto your belt, charging through a computer’s USB port. Kool Keyz drops on October 17th for $69.99. Watch a video demo below.

Fire Off The Max Cast Rocket Fishing Rod

maxcastfishingrod.jpg
TV informercials don’t normally pique our interest, especially since TiVo allows us to skip ‘em. But late last night, we caught wind of the Max Cast Rocket Fishing Rod, a gadget that casts a line with a simple push of a button.

If you’ve ever been fishing, you’re probably familiar with tangled reels and strain that results from relentless casting. Now you can catch dinner without the hassle and boring technicalities. Designed to look like a hi-tech blaster, the powerful pump shoots the glow in the dark lure 30-feet into the air. To buy one for $39.90 (or two installments of $19.95!), watch the infomercial after the jump.

Kaws’ 4 Foot Companion Finally Comes To America

kawsoriginalfake_toy.jpg
The cartoon-style work of street artist Kaws has been seen all around the world. Yet for one whole year, Americans couldn’t get their hands on one of his most coveted designs, the Grey 4 ft Companion, which was originally released only through Japan’s OriginalFake retail store. Today, collectors finally got a chance to get their mitts on the life-sized figure (produced by Medicom) via Kaws’ website for a cool $3000. It’s already sold out (duh), but a few will no doubt pop up on eBay in the coming months. See more full-size shots of the companion below.
