Incorporating the nautical steez of the classic boat shoe into a nubuck, weather-resistant boot, these shoes combine form and function for a pair that you can rock all the way through slushy season. Sneakers When Sneaker Brands Get “Inspired By” Creative Recreation

creativerecripoffs_topman-copy
Did you catch the new Topman footwear leak this week? It features a sneaker that looks strangely similar to a Creative Recreation Dicoco Hi. Hmmm. Topman, we love you, but come on, this is not fair. You can’t just copy a sneaker and put it on sale for cheap. Creative Rec has a brand identity, and while they might not be big enough to come at you with a team of snarling lawyers, that doesn’t mean you can go in and take its designs.

All sneaker companies get ripped off (ever see fake AF1s in the hood?), but when a big company does it, it just looks bad. Hit the jump for other brands who have produced strangely similar kicks to Creative Rec. Yup, we see you…

Style Brand Profile: Topman x Antony Price + White T-Shirt Collection

topmanlead
BRAND: TOPMAN

SINCE: 1978

HOME BASE: UK

WHY WE COSIGN: Think of Topman as a hybrid of the best UNIQLO, H&M and runway fashion have to offer. The prices aren’t so cheap, but you’re getting looks you’d see at fashion week without having to pay an absurd amount of money for them. Besides the cleaned-up pieces, Topman is also known for its well-stocked vintage clothing section, a category that most other high-fashion retailers are scarce in. Topman also just released its pastel-colored ’80s rock-inspired collection designed by Antony Price that boasts tones that are perfect for the spring season.

WHAT’S NEXT: Topman is releasing its White T-Shirt collection next week. The Topman team hooked up with proven designers like Richard Chai, Phillip Lim, Christopher Shannon, Juun J, JW Anderson and Henry Holland for a well-rounded range that features some of the sickest t-shirts of the season. The collection will drop on May 28th on topshop.com and at the Topman London and New York flagship stores.

Style Buy It Now: Topman Indigo Slim Leg Jeans

topmanjean1.jpgThe NYC opening of the British import Topshop/Topman store has been pushed back more times than the Maino album'difference is, we actually care about Topman’s U.S. release date (for the record, it’s now April 2). Until then, we still have Topman’s top-class online store, which we told you about when it first opened last fall.
