Patron in the Club, Patron on ice, Patron and Pineapple, Patron and Ginger, Patron and anything. To be honest, we love the stuff. But before the summer winds down, we figured it might be a good idea to see what else was out there on the market in terms of silver tequilas.
Silver tequilas are unaged tequilas, the type you usually get when you order premium tequila without specifying. They are the brightest tasting, which means that they pack a real punch, and go well with mixed drinks and as shots. Good tequila doesn’t come cheap (average around $40 or more per bottle), but it’s up to you what type of hangover/night you want to have, and you should always try to stay with products that are 100% blue agave to make sure you’re on point. There’s a ton of silver tequilas out there, and a lot of really really good ones, so check our review of the best silver tequilas on the market, in our humble Complex (a.k.a. awesome and correct) opinion…

This week in NYC, we headed down to La Esquina to build with Sammy Hagar about his tequila project Cabo Wabo. The ex-Van Halen frontman has been owner of the brand since 1996, and he hit up New York to conduct taste-tests in the heart of margarita weather.
Although Hagar’s involvement with the spirit may have been a bit under-the-radar, Cabo Wabo has been rivaling Patron and other ultra-premiums for more than a decade. When you order this afternoon’s round of “Thank Gods,” consider showing the dude some love (he’s on his grizzy!) and give CW a try. After the jump, watch a video of Sammy breaking down the history of tequila and showing off his arm tattoo.

For those of you that collect empty bottles of liquor like badges of honor (we see you, Sisters of Ki Assa Slappa) comes a real reason to hold on to your dead soldiers. 1800 Tequila has come out with a series of nine collectable bottles designed by artists from around the world (Chicago’s Jeremy Bacharach and Mexico City’s Jorge Alderete have two of the dopest, pictured above). Not only that, but they’ve got a promotion where folks can submit their own bottle designs and…please no…oh the humanity…design their own shoes (exactly what tequila and shoe design have in common is for you to figure out). Check out their website for more info, and watch our favorite tequila-related movie scenes after the jump.
