falltvgirls
Most of the plot lines for the new fall TV shows seem pretty bland—there’s three new shows about hospitals (how original!), a show about high school misfits, and some crap about witches. TV The Replacements: TV’s Most Memorable Recastings

futurama2
Futurama without the original voice cast? Sounds odd to us.

When Futurama returns to the boob tube in 2010, it may sound a little funny-style. 20th Century Fox TV is producing 26 new episodes for a mid-year cable run on Comedy Central, but talks have broken down with voice stars Billy West, Katey Sagal, John DiMaggio, Maurice LaMarche, and Tress MacNeille over money. Fox is trying to cut costs for the move to cable and has offered the cast less than they were hoping for, so don’t be surprised if Yakov Smirnoff ends up voicing all the characters on the cheap.

It wouldn’t be the first time a network pulled the okey doke on fans with replacement actors. Salary disputes, drug problems, thespian beef, and even the desire to get a college education (scandalous!) have all led to sudden, unexplained cast changes. Keep reading for the lowdown on some of television’s most memorable switcheroos with before-and-after photos included!

TV Hollywood’s Most Entertaining Male Gigolos

hung-promo-poster
What could be better than spreading your seed around town? Spreading your seed around town and getting paid for it, son! And what’s even better than that? Well, according to critics, HBO’s new series Hung is. The dark comedy, which premieres this weekend, is about a well-endowed, down-on-his-luck high school basketball coach (Thomas Jane) who becomes a male escort to make ends meet. And meet ends he does!

HBO is hardly the first to tap into the gigolo genre. Something about the concept of a male prostitute is oddly tantalizing for creative types, and the idea has found its way into movies, television shows, and music over the years. In honor of the market for meat, we give you our list of the most entertaining gigolos. Trust us, it pays (to read on)…

TV The Office Opens New Branch In Russia

office
Three years after the British comedy phenomenon The Office jumped across the pond to the States, it looks like your favorite collection of sad-sacks is jumping back. Early this morning, it was announced that BBC Worldwide has licensed the format to Russia’s Channel One for 24 episodes of Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant’s brainchild.

Scoff if you want'we were initially cynical about the American version too, but Greg Daniels and NBC won us over with his spot-on casting and hilarious writers. Will the Russian version continue the streak? Watch all 3 incarnations'British, American, and “Japanese”'and think about what hilarity might ensue when Sergei cooks Ivan’s stapler into a borscht-flavored gelatin mold. And let us know how it is on the other side of the Iron Curtain (that’s what she said!).
