Although you’ve probably dropped major paper at Supreme in the last few years, you might not have known the man behind the clothing. Don’t get it confused though, Brendon Babenzien’s resume doesn’t start and end with Supreme. Babenzien is also the creator of impressive clothing labels like Aprix and Noah. Yeah, he knows what he’s doing. Because we’re into looking forward, we tapped Babenzien to give us his trend predictions for the coming year in the annual Style & Design special from our latest issue. Check out the extended online cut below…

SNAP-FRONT DENIM JACKETS
Most often made for children but occasionally you can get lucky and find an adult-sized one.

THE TAKEOVER OF THE MOCCASIN
The deck shoe is tailing off. The moc’s more of a landlubbers’ shoe anyway—face it, most of us aren’t on the water as much as we’d like.

FLANNEL MAKING IT’S WAY OUT OF THE PICTURE
I’m planning more patterns to replace some plaids, which seem to be the uniform right now.

EARLY PROPER SKINHEAD LOOKS
Pre-racism bullshit. Early skins represented the working class and weren’t racially divided. They took the everyday uniform of the working man and made it sharp.

NEWTON RUNNING SHOES
Changed my life; nothing in the running world even comes close.

ARMY JACKETS
It’s nothing new but non-designer m-51s, m-65s, m-A1s and parkas all feel really good right now. The army jacket is so super-NY; I think of Woody Allen, which is always a good thing.

ROBES
I don’t expect to see people walking around in them, but a good robe is hard to beat. Call me crazy until you get your hands on one, and then we’ll see.

TECHNICAL OUTERWEAR
Sometimes it’s easier to throw on a good waterproof shell as opposed to a old-timey waxed jacket or mac—unless you’re pheasant hunting. The ultra classic thing that has gripped the country has gotten a bit boring. We can look good without being “dressed” all of the time.

You thought this 2003 look was gone for good? Brands are bringing it back for the ’09. Vote HUMP or DUMP now!

Sure you might have had a few of them when Pharrell, Justin Timberlake, and Ashton Kutcher were wearing them in 2003, but like it or not, trucker hats are making a come back in 2009. These foam-front, mesh-side, snap back-having hats might have lost their popularity in the last couple years (unless you’re a big Ed Hardy fan), but streetwear staples like The Hundreds, Supreme, BBC, and Stussy have included them in their spring/summer 2009 lookbooks. Are you ready to embrace them again? Vote whether to ‘HUMP’ or ‘DUMP’ the trend below…

You've heard the name, now get familiar with the sought-after designer's credentials .

Images surfaced yesterday of the Damien Hirst -designed TREK bike that Lance Armstrong will be riding in the eighth stage of the Tour de France bike race next week. The bike, like most things Hirst is attached to, is impressive, and the graphics look like they were created by a crazy man. To put it lightly, Hirst is a crazy man. Crazy paid, that is.

The name “Damien Hirst” is famous, and perhaps you posted his Supreme skateboard collaboration to your blogspot/Twitter and pretended to know his deal. Or maybe you copped that 10Deep T-shirt (?). Dude is actually pretty awesome, and just in case you find yourself pulling a blank when the British homie gets brought up in conversation, we figured we’d break down the bullet points for you. Hit the jump and get educated on Damien Hirst’s most iconic/interesting work so next time you sneak into a gallery function for the free Krug you’ll be all set.
• It’s a shark swimming in formaldehyde. Anyone can do that, right? Right, but only one guy did. Originally commissioned in 1991 by Charles Saatchi, the ad superhero re-sold it in 2004, turning Hirst into the second most expensive living artist after Jasper Johns at the time (he surpassed Johns in 2007). It also put Hirst on the map in a big way. Due to deterioration of the original 14-foot (4.3 m) tiger shark, it was replaced with a new specimen in 2006. It is on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City until 2010. Cop the Lego version and act like you know.

As soon as I sold one, I used the money to pay people to make them. They were better at it than me. I get bored.
Supreme drops a name; the cool guys pick it up. So here goes—Supreme: “Malcolm McLaren.” Cool Guys: *Frantic Google-searching.* We won’t go into his whole CV here but just know that back in the day, the double-M had more 12″ game than John Holmes. If you’re a DJ over 30, you know what’s up. Anyway, Supreme has a little capsule thing going with Malcolm McLaren in the form of T-shirts, hoodies, Vans kicks and this set of dope snapback hats with original artwork. Today’s Buy It Now is the Supreme x Malcolm McLaren New Era Snapback in three colorways. Get more info and see detail pics below…
