Video Games Street Fighter IV Goes 3D

Let’s be honest'Street Fighter had us at “Hadouken.” But after a million and one iterations of the classic title, all with negligible tweaks on the OG’s 2D fighting format, we were starting to get a little Shoryuken’ed out. Thankfully, the gameplay trailer for Capcom’s upcoming Street Fighter IV (360, PS3) has us buzzing like a Patrón Red Bull cocktail.
The February '09 release retains the traditional 2D style but incorporates 3D characters for a unique “2.5D” feel that both preserves and updates the game’s classic look. Plot-wise, the game is supposed to take place between SF II and SF III, adding at least five new characters, including Crimson Viper (pictured above). The graphics have a pop art, hand-drawn feel, with a cool brushstroke effect in the fight scenes. Watch the debut gameplay trailer below.
