This funny looking thing is actually an award winning mouse. It’s called the SpaceExplorer 3D and it was specifically created for professional designers, allowing users to simultaneously pan, zoom, and rotate three-dimensional objects like a virtual shapeshifter. Unlike regular mice that only support movement in two dimensions, the SpaceExplorer mouse enables an almost intuitive control of 3D models which makes it more than suitable for a variety of applications moving in that direction. The SpaceExplorer also won the prestigious iF Product Design Award 2008 in the computer category.
