The Complex 7 The Complex 7: Chris Kattan

Most likely, Chris Kattan’s name hasn’t crossed your mind since you last YouTubed a “Mango” SNL skit or pulled out a copy of A Night At the Roxbury in a fit of nostalgia for the days when Will Ferrell was actually funny. Recently, however, Chris Kattan’s name has been everywhere—or at least it seems so, with the über-colorful billboards announcing his return to TVs across America in the mini-series titled Bollywood Hero. The three-part series will air on August 6-8 at 10 p.m. on the IFC channel.

In Bollywood Hero, Kattan will be playing an exaggerated version of himself: an actor so desperate for a leading role that he takes one in Hollywood’s South Asian sibling industry. Up next for Chris is a role in the upcoming ABC sitcom Middle. The man’s busy, but we managed to grab a few minutes of his time to chat about cock rings (ayo!), 3-D glasses, and heartbreaking actresses…

Movies MacGruber Must Be Stopped: 10 SNL Movies We’d Actually Watch

macgruber-copy
We doubt MacGruber will be able to get out of the mess that will be his movie.

It’s official: MacGruber is set to be the first Saturday Night Live character to get a movie adaptation since Tim Meadows’ The Ladies Man flopped in the box office nearly a decade ago. Will Forte’s cinematic spoof of the non-violent, survivalist MacGyver character is still a ways away, but we’re already cringing in anticipation. It’s not that we don’t love to see good SNL skits turned into feature length films (see: The Blues Brothers and Wayne’s World), it’s just that most of the time five minutes of funny doesn’t stretch into 90 minutes of hilarity. More importantly, a lot of these skits weren’t that hilarious to begin with (cough, A Night at the Roxbury, cough-cough, Superstar, cough).

To be honest, we haven’t watched SNL live on the boob tube since we discovered how much more entertaining vagina is on a Saturday night, but if we’re gonna have to see more sketch characters given the Hollywood treatment, we’re confident we can pick far superior ones. Not only could we make some bangin’ movies, but we also might save a few careers in the process (you’re welcome, Eddie Murphy). Keep reading for Complex’s top ten SNL skits that would be cinematic sure shots…

TV The Unauthorized History Of White Boy Dreadlocks

rastrent_leadimage.jpg
Andy Samberg as Ras Trent, seeing the world through white I’s.

It’s nearly impossible for a white boy with dreads to have credibility ‘pon lock. No matter how many drum circles they drum in, or how many spliffs they spark to heal the nation, some smart-ass like Saturday Night Live comic Andy Samberg will laugh at them and make a hilarious skit about their misguided appropriation of Rastafarian culture.

In honor of all the white dreads who are taking abuse and putting off the eventual haircut and embrace of white privilege on Wall Street, Complex rates the realness of 11 famous dreadlocked white boys. Dread it (especially if you made the list)…

TV The Worst Post-SNL Career Failures

amy-lead.jpg
Amy Poehler is leaving Saturday Night Live after the November election to have her first child and focus on her as-yet-untitled upcoming primetime NBC series. Complex wishes her all the best, but we’re prepared for the worst.

While many former cast members have gone on to make great comedies and achieve success, others weren’t built for stardom and failed miserably. Check out seven SNL alums whose careers Poehler should avoid at all costs. Pay attention, Andy Samberg.
