Left To Right: Shakira, Wiz Khalifa, LCD Soundsystem, Wild Nothing, Sean Kingston

Each day Complex scours the music blogs for 5 fresh songs that you should listen to in our 5 O’Clock Shuffle post. Instead of going crazy trying to keep up with your RSS feeds everyday, just head over to Complex.com to stay up-to-date on important leaks and releases.

The blogs were kind of quiet again today, but we still managed to scrape together five download-worthy songs for the playlist. Shakira linked up with Wayne and Timbo, Wiz Khalifa finally dropped a real single, and some unknown kid from Virginia dropped one of the hottest indie rocks tracks of the year. That’s not all of it either. Keep reading for the MP3 streams and download links…

Music The 10 Worst Album Covers of 2009 (So Far)

sean-kingston-lead
Sean Kingston’s new album, entitled Tomorrow, comes out today. Now, we haven’t heard the album—nor will we ever (at least voluntarily)—but we’re gonna go ahead and judge an LP by its cover: terrible. It looks like he stole the clay character thing from Soulja Boy’s “YAHHH!” video, slapped his “SK” chain on it, and threw on some Rastafakin’ gear on it. No, trick, noooooo!

Anyway, after seeing this poor excuse for artwork, we decided to go back though the year’s music releases and compile a list of the 10 Worst Album Covers of 2009 (so far)

Music YouTubin’ With The Stars: Sean Kingston

dsc_02253
Wat A Gwaan! Love him or hate him, you can’t deny that Sean Kingston knows how to crank out radio-friendly bangers. His latest single, “Fire Burning,” is steadily climbing up the music charts; more importantly, it’s a mainstay in those type of clubs where the white girls get silly. As the song stays in rotation, Kingston is prepping his forthcoming album, Tomorrow, which drops on September 22 and reportedly features a Lil Wayne guest appearance. While the hit-maker was in town recently, he stopped by the Complex office to give us some commentary on some videos relating to Spencer Pratt, groupie video chicks, and his now-infamous “Blackberry Bold” WSHH video. Check what SK had to say in this latest installment of YouTubin’ With The Stars

Music Ball Boy Of The Week: Sean Kingston

ballboy_seankingston.jpg
We’re not sure who said it first, but our December cover artist Jim Jones said it best: “Respect my mind, or respect my grind.” And we agree. Even if you don’t like a certain artist or their music, if they’re doing their thing'somehow selling records and getting that guest spot money, you should at least respect the fact that they’re out there grinding. It’s only right… right? We suppose, but some artists make it hard to root for them. Like, say, Sean Kingston.

For the first installment of the our Ball Boy of the Week column, we chose the Jamaican rap/”reggae” artist responsible for one of the most annoyingly infectious hits of late, “Beautiful Girls.” Now, we had no problem with dude, we were happy he was getting his shine on, and even kinda liked that song he did with Juelz. But all that success must have went to dude’s head, ’cause lately he’s been acting a damn fool. Don’t believe us? Read on to see 5 reasons why Sean Kingston is our Ball Boy of the Week…

Music Who’s The Worst Rapper Video Blogger?

kingstonlead.jpg
Back in the dayâ„¢, if a rapper didn’t have an album (or at least a song on the radio), the only shine he might expect would be a few sentences in the back of The Source. But nowadays, every MC Tom, Dick and Harry with a MacBook'no matter how irrelevant or untalented'can make a name with a video blog. Quite simply, rapper video blogging is outta control.

Be clear: We are not talking about video blogs from dudes like Diddy, Weezy, and Soulja Boy'though they are no less asinine, you’re allowed a little slack when you’ve proven you have actual fans. For this poll, we’re aiming directly at the lames who put out more web videos than actual music, the ones that clog up worldstarhiphop.com with their mindless fuckery. So who’s the worst video blogger of the bunch?
