N.E.R.D., Santogold & The Strokes Rock Converse

Multinational corporations do a lot of shitty things. You know, pollution, sweatshops, secretly financing third world guerrilla wars. But on the other hand, their marketing departments have pretty decent taste in music!

In the last few years, we’ve seen a surge in corporate-backed collaborations, from Smirnoff’s Signature Mix Series to Boost Mobile’s “Whole City Behind Us” campaign with Kanye, The Game and Ludacris. Now Converse has brought N.E.R.D., Santogold and The Strokes’ lead singer Julian Casablancas together to record a new song for their Century celebration. Called “My Drive Thru,” the song will be available for free download tomorrow at the company’s website. Throughout the summer, the trio will be seen together in a music video for the song and will appear in advertising that bears the slogan “Three Artists, One Song.” Listen to the collabo below.

Zune Arts Throws A “Tickle Party” With ‘Friends’ and Santogold

Zune Arts continues their foray into supporting experimental drug cinema with the release of their latest film: “Tickle Party.” It features the strange and wonderful visuals of Miami-based art crew Friends With You and is scored to “New Wave art rocker” Santogold’s “Say Aha” track. The plush toy creators who brought us Malfi and other magical critters have gone way beyond making designer stuffed animals. They’ve transformed their fantastic creations into parade floats, indoor playgrounds, print matter, and now fuzzy film characters too. Watch as the fluffy little white dance-loving “fuzzies” come across an ill-omened monster that’s being tortured to the delight of evil ruby tear collecting gluttons. The moral of the story: it’s more rewarding to be kind than cruel. Yeah, well, sometimes. Anyway, “Tickle Party” features a blend of stop motion, puppetry and assorted 3D elements which explains the hallucinatory feel of the film. They’re also offering a specially imprinted Zune with the ‘Friends’ designed characters from the film. Give it a peek after the jump.
