Style The 10 Best Rugby Shirts For Fall/Winter 2009

RugbyLead
The sport itself may not be popular here in the States, but rugby shirts have been poppin’ for a while now. Though the majority of the ones you see on store racks are merely rugby “style” shirts, it doesn’t make them any less cool. And because they’re traditionally made of heavier, more durable cotton than, say, a regular long sleeve polo shirt, they’re great staple pieces for your winter wardrobe. As with anything else, only a few brands know how to make a quality, stylish rugby shirt, and you will find most of them below in our round of the 10 best rugby shirts available this season. Game on…

Style Buy It Now: Make Your Own Rugby iPhone App

buyitnow_final
We’ve always been content with the sick colorways and designs Ralph Lauren has bestowed upon us through the years. Now, Uncle Ralph has created a new way for customers to become more involved in the creative process. We’ve reported on Rugby’s customizing options before, but now, through an all-new Rugby iPhone app, consumers can construct their very own rugby shirt while on the go. You can also place orders from the application with the “Order Your Creation” option.

As if all this wasn’t genius enough, the application allows users to upload a photo of themselves to model their new creation. (If modeling isn’t your steez, you can still customize the “stock” model images by choosing skin color, hair style, and background.) Once created, your rugby can be shared via Facebook and on the Rugby gallery, which can be seen in select stores and online all around the world. From there, less creative individuals can browse and purchase others’ hot designs.

Todays Buy It Now is the Make Your Own Rugby iPhone application from Polo Ralph Lauren. Consider it just another great way to become completely wrapped up in iPhone madness. For Buy It Now info and more pics of the app, see below…

Style The 12 Best Back To School Polo Shirts

lead15
T-shirts are a summer staple, but as we head into September and the summer begins to conclude, you should start to ease up on the graphic t’s (besides these, of course) and throw on something a little more sophisticated. We’re not saying it’s time to whip back out your button downs and sweaters—nah, the leaves don’t even start falling in September.

What you should do, however, is make sure your polo game is proper. Especially if you’re going back to school. There’s nothing like a sick polo shirt to give you a more scholarly look. From the classic Ralph Lauren polos to the casual J. Crew jerseys we picked out the 12 must own polo shirts of the season. Take your pick below…

Style Buy It Now: Opening Ceremony Rugby Knit Polo

lead4
Rugby is a rough and tumble sport, but you won’t wanna be tackled in the mud with Opening Ceremony’s Rugby Knit Polo on. Humberto Leon and Carol Lim make this American classic modern again by using subtle color-blocking. It’s got a contrast-woven collar and henley placket, ribbed cuffs, and reinforced flap hem…which is just clothing jargon that means it’s nice enough to wear to dinner with the folks. It’s in a knit fabric though so watch for shorty trying to wear your fancy gear to bed. Check below for detail pics in both colorways and Buy It Now info…

Style Buy It Now: Make Your Own Rugby Shirts by Rugby

rugbylead.jpg
It wasn’t too long ago that Nike iD jumped off a custom craze'it seemed like every company started releasing some sort of customizable product. Problem is, lame gear doesn’t become less lame just because you’ve chosen the colorway and slapped on a few customized graphics. The trend may have played itself out, but when a trusted brand offers the chance to personalize a quality item, we’re reminded why customizing is such a cool idea to begin with.

Enter Rugby Ralph Lauren and its new customizable rugby shirts. We’ve already told you about Rugby’s charitable efforts, but this is a straight style play'four different rugby shirts that you can customize with front chest patches and embroideries and a number on the back. We kinda wish there were more design choices, but even minus the graphics, these shirts are fresh to death. See below for pictures of the four styles, Buy It Now information and the free rugby ball you’ll get with your purchase…

Style Polo’s Match Rugby Project Makes You Feel Good

rugbylead_edit.jpg
Match Rugby, $95

Whether or not you know shit about the actual game, nothing beats a sturdy rugby addition to your wardrobe in the fall. And Rugby Ralph Lauren makes 'em even more appealing with their new Match Rugby initiative, which raises funds to support young social entrepreneurs. To kick off the project, Rugby released an exclusive shirt (shown above), along with collabos with TOMS shoes and FEED projects, this past weekend. Each season they’ll be unveiling new limited edition Match gear and giving up to half the proceeds to a special fund.

Polo is working with Teach for America, Youth Venture, and Donors Choose to help identify a group of young aspiring business owners who will compete for grants. The winners will be announced this December and will be partially chosen through online voting. Charitable and stylish? Sounds like a winning combination to us. All items are currently available on Rugby.com. Check out the TOMS and FEED collabo items below…
