Style How to Dress Like Jay-Z and Kanye in the “Run This Town” Video

leadimage2
When we learned three of the biggest, best dressed pop stars of our generation were all going to appear in a video together, we excepted some glamorous, big money shit. Wouldn’t you? Instead, the Anthony Mandler helmed video for Jay-Z’s second Blueprint 3 single, “Run This Town” has the trio in, what appears to be, a war torn village overrun by rebels (watch it below). There’s also no electricity, just tiki torches and lots and lots of leather. Cool…?

However, we’re guessing Jay had a treatment like this in his mind from the get-go, ’cause guess what color everyone in the video is wearing? Yup. All black everything! And despite their locale being completely run down, Jay-Z, Kanye and Rihanna look like they just hit the mall and threw a couple ‘fits in the bag. Hov and Ye’s looks may not be for everyone, but we’ve all had those nights when we wanna feel completely murdered out (black on black on black). If you’re feeling a little rough n’ rugged and think you can pull it off, keep reading to see how to recreate both looks…

Sneakers A History of Stash’s Footwear Collaborations

stashlead
It looks like Brooklyn graffiti artist Josh “Stash” Franklin is back at the footwear game, as part of a new collaboration with some interesting characters. Ready? Philadelphia urban retailer VILLA turns 20 this year. OK, sounds good. So to commemorate this, Rocawear is making a boot for the shop. OK. Cool. Jay-Z and Udi Avashalom (Training Camp NYC) own Rocawear footwear, so this makes it their collab. Then they got Stash to write a happy birthday message on each box. OK. So it’s a three way collab between Udi, Jay-Z, and Stash.

The boot is cool, but definitely not the first time Stash has gotten down with the collabo-train. Hit the jump for them all, a history of Stash’s footwear collabs, and get schooled. Think you have what it takes to become the next go-to collaborator man? We know Nike is looking…

Kicks of the Day Rocawear R+ Evolution (Vote Jay-Z’s Sneaker vs Kanye’s)

jayeezys3
The buzz around the sneaker world for the past few months has been all about Mr. West’s Air Yeezy, but on May 15, Jay-Z’s going to try and takeover the footwear game by releasing the first sneaker under his Rocawear label.

Point-and-shoot pics of this RT1 “Evolution” sneaker leaked online last week, but now we have detailed shots of Big Brother’s sneakers. They’re not as flashy as the Yeezy’s, but they’re also much cheaper, clocking in at $84 a pair. How do you think Hov’s sneaker stacks up against ‘Ye’s? Check more pics of the Evolution, and then vote on who’s sneaker you’re feeling more after the jump.

Kicks of the Day R+ Roc Climber (Jay-Z) Boots

r-boots.jpg
If you're looking to get your Roc Boy starter-kit on, you might want to start with this R+ “Roc Climber”, Jay-Z’s new signature boot. The new footwear sets out to encapsulate the evolution of the Rocawear Men's line, as well as to capture Hovie's “music, swagger, and lifestyle.”

We're not sure about all that, but the production is quality, with the hard-bottoms being developed in Italy, and superior leather (on the black colorup) and suede (on the wheat make-up after the jump) uppers. Check for these at key Rocawear accounts on 11/1, and look for Jigga to be rockin' these throughout his press run for The Blueprint 3. Get them online now, right HERE.

Style Triangle Offense

jamiekingroc.jpg

Jay-Z knows what he's doing. The rap mogul and Rocawear CEO had his sights on propelling the clothing line by handpicking model/actress Jaime King as the face for this fall's line. Then, just in time for fashion week, Rocawear teamed up with Complex for the special opening of the Roc Pop Shop at New York City's midtown sneaker emporium Training Camp. The takeover? Yep, Hov even made a special appearance at the in-store event, where Complex fashion director Anoma Ya Whittaker styled guests in Rocawear's fall gear.
