Puma’s getting heavy on the sailing tip, and we’re not just talking about having yachts on the reg. The brand recently sponsored a sailboat in the Volvo Ocean Race that hit spots around the world like Rio de Janeiro. Which gets us to these Aqua Mostro C’s, a strappy low-top that’s as deck-ready as your Sperry’s. The sneakers have released in white, but this navy blue colorway will hold the water-stains better. Cop ‘em here for $75.

Trends come and go, but the recent footwear gold rush shows no signs of stopping. Get your fill of our favorite eye-catching kicks now.

Sneaker nation tends to have a love-hate relationship with gold kicks. Some can't get enough of them, and some wish the flashy trend would fade into obscurity like Jeffrey Atkins. But in a market where the trends are so finicky, kicks in Au colorways always seem to pop up regardless of what’s hot at the moment.

If you think the first time someone cool rocked gold kicks was Jay-Z in the “Umbrella” video, you're dead wrong. Back in 1996, Michael Johnson owned the Olympic games in his gold-dipped track spikes. And in 2009, the style still seems to be going strong'last week Puma released a 24k collabo sneaker with UNDFTD.

We’re not sure how long the gold rush will last for, so take a look back at all the gold sneakers that have caught our eye over the years…

NIKE DUNK HIGH PRO SB “LUCKY”

• Year Of Release: 2004
• The Luckies dropped at the pinnacle of Nike SB-dom, and if you got them, it was probably because you were weed-carrying for your local skate shop owner. It was worth the mental scars of getting made fun of by the real skateboarders, since they're now going for $700 right now.

After playing the cut for a few years, Puma's comfortable trainer, the Disc Blaze returns with a bang this month. Puma brought back the silhouette, added a lace-unit, and then capped it off with a Mexican motif on the inside. Check for them at select retailers for a buck.

The Gumball 3000 Rally celebrates its 10th anniversary this year with a route that takes 120 teams of billionaires, car enthusiasts, and celebrity drivers across the west coast of the US and then over to Asia on an 8 day stint. From August 9th-11th, the riders travel from San Francisco to Los Angeles to Las Vegas, with parties in each city at night. From there, the cars will board Antonov cargo planes and fly to Pyongyang, North Korea, where they will kick it with the always stylish Kim Jong Ill for the night (true story!). The trip wraps up after the caravan drives to Bejing for the Olympics on August 16.

To commemorate the event (and to brand the drivers) Puma printed T-shirts that will be worn exclusively by Gumball participants'the aptly-titled “driver” shirt is shown above. Check out more detail shots and the “crew” shirts below.

Lichtenstein was known for his deeply rooted influence in comic book art, and with the Basket 68s that Puma did a while back being a hit, the brand decided to channel Lichtenstein again for this low-profile sneaker. They'll be available at select Puma stores this summer.
Exactly a month after Puma drops their endangered polar animals pack, the brand will follow-up with a set of three sneakers that take inspiration from dying out Asian animals. The collection, which will wrap up Puma's collabo with AtmosNYC features photography by in-house National Geographic shooter Mitsuaki Iwago.
This June, Puma will release a pack of three sneakers in collaboration with Atmos NY that take inspiration from different endangered polar animals. Each sneaker features photography by seasoned wildlife shutterbug Mitsuaki Iwago (National Geographic's resident photog), and was produced to bring awareness to the detrimental affects the environment is having on wildlife. The set of three which are inspired by The Harp Seal (pictured above), Macaroni Penguin, and The Polar Bear all have distinct design cues throughout the uppers that mimic the animals aesthetic. The shoes will be exclusive to Atmos, and will drop June 28th. Check the other two styles after the jump.
Knick fans are hopeful that Isaiah will be ran out of town by the time these No Mas First Rounds drop. After locking down Boston, and L.A collabos, the only street-fashion brand with any real sports knowledge heads back home for this NY-friendly make up. Someone send Derrick Rose over some DS pairs, we need homie to run the point next year. Release date info is sketchy for now, we’ll update you as soon as we know.
The sports nuts at NoMas must be hitting off every major sports city with their own First Round. We saw the NYC and L.A make-ups, next up will be the Boston version. Done up in a Celtics colorway and with tributes to Reggie Lewis seen throughout the kicks, the sneakers will be available March 17th only at Bodega. You’re mistaken if you thought the First Round was a one-and-done for Puma. The silo that gained popularity in ‘07 thanks to the ultra-hyped Alife collabo, will drop in solid schemes like these blue suede make-ups. Toned-down and simple, we’re with it. Look for them to release soon in Puma stores nationwide in the next few weeks. $80, www.puma.com

Lately, here in NYC it seems like everywhere we turn, another Puma store opens. Damn, and we thought McDonald's omnipresence was bad. But this is a good look for Puma. Their new concept shop in Union Square extends their presence in hipster neighborhoods beyond their locations on Broadway and the Meatpacking District. By the way, the Union Square one is in fact next door to McDonald's. You want fries with them kicks?
