Cleveland Browns x Nike? No, actually Hiroshi Fujiwara x Nike. The man known for his understated designs on sneakers took over an under-the-radar silo in the Match Classic, and hooked up it up premium suede, and this Eric Manginifriendly colorway. The sneakers already hit CaliRoots, but those in the state should check 21 Mercer to cop. Oh, and keep them away from Mangina, please.

Tonight, Eric Haze opens ‘NEW ABSTRACTS AND ICONS’, a three week exhibition of new works
at the LEVEL 2 Gallery at 812 Broadway (@11th Street), in New York City. If you’re around, go check it out. A-Trak and Neil Armstrong will be spinning, and the work is guaranteed fresh.

HAZE’s ability to stay ahead and on top of the ever-changing mediums of artistic expression over the last 30 years has allowed the native New Yorker’s creative impact to reach far beyond the City subway yards and skate ramps of the ’70s. From his early work with Def Jam to starting his own clothing label, HAZE was a predecessor of streetwear, being “big in Japan”, and getting down with Stüssy. Through the years, big brands have gained plenty from a HAZE co-sign, but in return the big homie got exposure and renown. Hit the jump for a history of HAZE’s work in corporate culture, from early logotypes to decking out Nike Dunks and Lotuses…

HAZE x Def Jam, 1987
HAZE’s post-train graphic art made its way onto mad classic album covers. From EPMD to Public Enemy to the Beasties—dude was the hand of ’90s hip-hop. To that, we (and you) tip our caps.

HAZE x Casio, 1999/2005/2008
HAZE’s relationship with Casio began in 1999 when the Japanese watchmaker tapped him alongside DJ Spooky and Dog Town to be a part of a US “Artist Series” of G-Shock watches. In 2008, Casio appointed him to handle the design of the company’s 25th anniversary logo, as well as the packaging for all watches to be sold in 2008. He also got to design his third G-Shock—the only one to be available worldwide (as opposed to Japan/Europe only releases of the two previous models)—a couple of years back.

Not every cool sneaker has to follow the [insert brand name here] x [insert artist, store, etc. here] formula. Want proof? Check out these black Air Max 90s that hit Nike Sportswear retailers. By now you’re familiar with the sneaker that premiered over a decade ago, but now that it’s back in black, it’s time to get excited again, especially because you won’t have to wait in line to buy them. Throw some black laces in ‘em and they’ll look even better. The Terminator is going to get a lot of burn this season, and leading off the drops is this brown/black/red quickstrike. Not only is this colorway fall-friendly, but the premium leather on the uppers won’t break down anytime soon. The sneakers hit CaliRoots already, but domestic heads should check in with Nike Sportswear retailers around the country.

“Under The Hood” with Manny Pacquiao at the Montalbán in L.A. was truly hot. The event was the first in a series in which Nike Sportswear takes you inside the mind, heart, and soul of the world’s greatest athletes.

Live streaming on Complex.com/NikeSportswear, Under The Hood was viewed and participated in by thousands of fans all over the world and had the internet blowing up with activity.

Highlights of the night included: a special guest appearance by Nike SB superstar P-Rod, a spectacular knockout reel, and an inside look at Manny’s brutal training regimen. Manny even took part in an insightful Q&A session with the live Montalbán audience and the online audience on Twitter. But the best part of the night came when Manny Pacquiao took the mic for an impromptu duet with Filipino singing sensation Melissa R. during her rendition of “Lahing Pinoy.”

A couple months ago, we laid out our Top 50 (NON-SB) Nike Dunks of all time, and judging by all the great comments we got, we’re sure you remember the feature quite well. Now we’re back to go through the Top 50 Air Force 1s of all time, but we called on the undisputed AF1 King, DJ Clark Kent to give us his master list. The legendary Producer/DJ/Sneaker Head came up with a list chock-full of holy grails, and special make-ups that only a few people have in the world. Yeah, he’s serious. Check out the countdown to see which styles made Clark’s favorite fifty…

The Brooklyn artist breaks down his pieces at the new exhibit in New York. Get familiar with some of his recent work.

If Ink Were Blood (Man and Woman) by Dustin Yellin. Resin, acrylic, and ink, 182cm x 60cm x 34cm.

Nike’s collaborative art project with Livestrong, entitled STAGES, opened in New York on Friday night at the Deitch Projects space on 480 Broome street. The collection is a series of art that features big timers like Tom Sachs, Ed Ruscha, Shepard Fairey, Kaws, and Jose Parla. If you live or are in NY for the next month, go check it out, the work is impressive and a great way to check out some contemporary heroes all in the same spot.

For the New York edition of STAGES, a few new pieces were brought into the mix, including a piece by Brooklyn artist Dustin Yellin, a two part sculpture titled, “If Ink Were Blood (Man and Woman)”. Before this, we didn’t really know Dustin’s work, so we took the opportunity to catch up with him. Hit the jump to check out an interview with Yellin where he explains his process, then peep some of his more recent work.

Dustin Yellin, on his piece for STAGES: “Lance Armstrong and the Livestrong Foundation contacted me about STAGES, I guess Lance had been aware of my work for some time. I met him as part of this show, and these two pieces were made specifically for STAGES. I was thinking about the body and how cancer affects it and how disease in general affects it. The body is this perfect machine, and we’re continuing to figure out ways to fix it and build it back up again. These are life-size humans that are pretty much all ink and resin.

“The pieces are created by stacking layers of drawings poured over a four-month period. For this one, I used computers, to build the men, and I sliced them up digitally, like an MRI, to create the 2 dimensional layers. The process works by pouring a layer of resin, letting it dry, and then painting a layer on it. The next day, I repeat the process, pouring another layer of resin on the previous drawing, letting that dry, and then painting on top of that. The form slowly builds as the 2-D marks build up. It’s about 70 drawings, stacked to make one composition over a 4-month period. This is how I work, these forms are a language that I am creating. I do all kinds of different biological and abstract forms, you can see additional work at dustinyellin.com.”

We’re not exactly how much involvement Parra had in the design of these Nike x Parra Air Maxim 1s, but we do know that they’re dope nonetheless. Although Parra’s familiar characters are left off the sneaker, you’ll noticed the Dutch artist’s go-to color scheme on the speckled soles. It seems like everyone is doing Chukka’s nowadays, so it was only a matter of time before Nike threw its hat into the mix. These Air Zoom Toki’s will start to trickle into quick-strike accounts around the nation this weekend, and will serve as a good switch-up from all the dunks and blazers you’ve been rockin’. You can get them online at CaliRoots, but also at stores in the U.S like Major and Corporate.

Celebrate the history of this classic college basketball sneaker with our countdown of the most classic releases.

It’s September, which means back to school time is upon us. And what sneaker is more appropriate for school than the Nike Dunk? In 1985, Nike released the original Dunk Hi sneaker to heavy-match with the uniforms of top-tier college basketball teams. Now, 24 years later, we’ve seen everyone from graffiti artists and super brands to cool-guy stores and rock bands put their spin on the iconic silhouette.

The sneaker is Nike’s canvas, and while we’re sure you’ve bought a bunch in your lifetime, we’re hoping you bought some of the right ones. With the spirit of the kids going back to the books, we put together a master list of what we felt are the 50 Best Nike Dunks Of All Time—minus SBs (that list is coming later, so don’t try to do it first!). See which styles made the cut, and have fun strolling down memory lane after the jump. Class is in session.

YEAR OF RELEASE: 2008
• These Dunk Premiums do what the Mighty Crowns, the Currys and all the others tried—a dope tone-on-tone Dunk, with premium material. Bang Bang. Start the countdown off strong.
———————————————————————————————————————————————————–

There was a time when the only people who wore the Cortez was your grandfather and Forrest Gump. Well, those days are over. Not only have the sneakers recently (ok several months ago) become ID-able, but Nike is updating the silhouette that launched in 1972 through pop-y colors and added comfort. This blue and “hot red” style just hit CaliRoots for $103 and will probably hit swoosh sportswear stores in the U.S, any day. Sick.

The sneaker blogs have been going nuts about the Hypermaxs, are they coming to the U.S? How limited are they? and so on. Well, the three colorways with the Neon make-up being the standout drop tomorrow at quickstrike accounts around the nation. Rumor has it that the tennis ball colored style is more limited than the other two, so if you’re looking to lock down a pair, you might have politic with store owners. Our friends at Sneaker Bistro will have ‘em first at 12a.m. Good luck.

UPDATE: The sneakers will release 8/28.

Sure reading about sneakers that come out in three months is cool, but too often product drops get lost on these internets. That’s where Complex comes in. In our new column “Top Shelf” we’ll check in with the dopest sneaker stores around the country to put you up on the footwear they’re stocking right now.

First up, we hit up our homies at ALIFE NYC to see what sneakers were moving units, and some kicks the managers were co-signing. Hit the jump to see the goods from usual favorites like Nike, and Jordan Brand as well as some bangers from New Balance and Warrior, as well as some sneakers your wifey might be interested in.
