L-R-G and Courvoisier have travelled a long road together in the past month. The two brands put their heads together for a partnership that has produced an exclusive line of products (jackets, mountain bikes, Nintendo Wii’s, to flat screen TV’s, etc), giving consumers an up-close preview of the limited edition line at pop-up shops nationwide.
Last night, for the final leg of the tour, super-producer Just Blaze and Complex’s DJ Treats turned the Lower East Side’s Reed Space into a virtual sweat box, pumping out heavy-hitting tunes for a memorable close to an even more memorable collaboration. It’s no lie that New York rappers have had a rough time lately. Even Brooklyn’s own Maino, who’s spent most of his career on the mixtape circuit, has been through multiple failed deals. But with the release of the video for his latest single “Hi Hater,” it looks like his Atlantic Records debut If Tomorrow Never Comes might actually be on track for its September release. The King of the South even lended some extra support by bringing Maino’s Hustle Hard imprint under Grand Hustle’s wing.
While B.G. is the only Grand Hustle affiliate on a track (”Gangsta”) from the album, Maino delivers 11 more tracks of thug motivation for BK. “Hi Hater” takes it back to b-boys in the ’80s with a classic Jimmy Spicer sample, and so does “However Do You Want Me,” a JR Rotem-produced joint that flips Soul II Soul’s “Back To Life.” Smile at the haters after the jump with the full video.

Rogan Gregory gets cooler with every move he makes. The eco-friendly designer that built the Rogan fashion house also launched organic clothing lines Loomstate and Edun, a collaboration with Bono and wife, Ali Hewson. Recently, he made another major move by opening his second store in New York’s Lower East Side. The new location, which carries all the previously mentioned chic brands, is located in an actual NY landmark—the Bouwerie Lane Theatre—which was constructed in 1874. Grab a quick look at the shop’s interior after the jump.

A summer wardrobe just isn’t complete without crispy clean sneakers. In case you’ve been outside the bubble, white-on-white Air Force 1’s aren’t the season’s standard look—kicks are now open to all bright colors, as long as they’re unscuffed. But matching the rest of your outfit accordingly takes a little work, especially when you’ve got on some sneakers of the gaudy, eye-catching variety.
This week’s Street Detail subject keeps it mellow yellow with the premium sneaker brand Raf Simons, then adds some subtle detail with his yellow camo Nixon watch. See the full style breakdown after the jump.

After three years of operating out of the small SoHo retail space on Lafayette St., the Swedish fashion import Dunderdon relocated to a bigger location on 25 Howard St. this past March. The brighter, spacious flaghship is living proof that Dunderdon paid its dues coming up from the dark, industrial theme of their old home. This year’s line of jackets, pants, shirts, and hoodies meets the needs of both form an function. Design director Carlos Salazar creates durable jackets, complete with plenty of pockets (including a few hidden ones), and rich colored T-shirts with a lyric from The Smiths emblazoned on the front—”Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now.” Take a look at a few more Dunderdon products in the gallery after the jump.

The next time you see a dude rocking a light jacket over a zip-hoody or crew neck sweatshirt, take note. Dressing for the weather is key during spring, especially in New York, where the temperature will drastically change within the hour—April showers in the morning, May sunshine in the afternoon. That’s why layering is the best way to prepare for mother nature. Just make sure you don’t try to keep this look in rotation during during the 80+ degree summer months—you’ll just have to wait for September. Check out how this week’s New Yorker puts his best layered look forward after the jump.

New Yorkers, the wait is over, and it looks like Hot 97’s Summer Jam might actually be interesting this year. The station announced this afternoon that Kanye West and Lil Wayne will be taking center stage as co-headliners. This year’s concert will take place at Giants Stadium on June 1st, so grab your tickets at Ticket Master now. And as luck would have it, a snippet of Kanye freestyling over Weezy’s “Lollipop” also leaked today. Hear ’Ye on the auto-tune after the jump.

Shiny footwear needs a kick in the ass, specifically the cheesy, candy-colored sneaker trend that won’t seem to die. We’re not complete haters of patent-leather, but what happened to a classic pair hard bottoms that paved the way? Rather than be relegated to special occasions that call for the accompanying black and white penguin suit, kids are giving them burn on a more regular basis. After the jump, take a look at how this week’s Street Detail subject pulls off the formal look as part of his daily regimen.

Contrary to the belief of non-New Yorkers, the entire city isn’t as fashion-forward as you’d think. There’s still parts of the Big Apple like the Bronx, that have yet to catch up to some of the more different styles that are just a simple train-ride downtown. But things are slowly changing. “Wearing skinny jeans over more baggy jeans is more acceptable than like two years ago,” says today’s Street Detail subject. Whether or not you’re from uptown where they stop and stare see the full outfit after the jump.

A new thorn in Fat Joe’s side comes by way of Bang Bang Boogie, a (sort of) supergroup made up of a few overlooked MCs from the Bronx. The group includes Lord Tariq, Mysonne and Fat Joe’s former Terror Squadian Cuban Link, along with S-One and Hocus, two newcomers from the Castle Hill projects. And in a perfect example of “The enemy of the enemy is my friend,” 50 Cent even shows up to co-sign the Fat Joe diss by rocking the crew’s T-shirt and introducing the video. After the jump, watch the carnage.
