In the 90s, models were super.

New York Fashion Week is underway and everywhere we look, models and bottles are getting popped (perhaps that’s because we’re the ones popping them open). As we sip bubbles and bed these impressionable and vacant young women, we can’t help but think back to our youth when we were were hiding pics of half nude models under our beds.

Not all the dime ’90s catwalkers have aged as well as the rap we were listening to back then, but we think of them fondly all the same. In honor of Fashion Week, Complex is taking a trip down memory lane with the 11 hottest models of the '90s. We ordered them according to how many deposits we made to the spank bank in their names, so feel free to disagree…

Thickness Thursday: Melyssa Ford

With all due respect to other brands, we prefer Ford’s big bodied, well-oiled machines. Forget the American-made cars on Detroit’s assembly line, the curvaceous Ms. Melyssa Ford has better whip appeal. It’s been 10 years since homegirl first made a splash in music videos for folks like Jay-Z (”Hey Papi”), Jadakiss (”Knock Yourself Out”), and Usher (”Yeah”), and there’s no denying that Melyssa’s assets helped donkey kick start hip-hop’s trend for featuring girls with thick hips, and thighs (butter faces included).

As a companion to our Super Two’s Day column, we’re kicking off Thickness Thursday, where we pay tribute to women who have curves all over. With Melyssa’s birthday celebration jumping off tomorrow, we thought it would be appropriate to take a look back at some of the best shots that earned Melyssa her alias Jessica Rabbit. Buy Some Art And Feed A Model

The website FeedaModel.com is very misleading. The homepage shows a model holding a cardboard sign begging for food, but they aren’t exactly soliciting donations like Sally Struthers in Africa. It’s actually an outlet for its founders Apple Price and Michelle Easter to showcase and sell their art alongside their modeling portfolios.

We applaud the runway chicks for trying to expand their brand by marrying art with skin, but it’s how they go about that’s a little confusing. They say, “Feed our skinny bellies by buying our art.” Aren’t top-notch models always looking to find ways to shed some pounds? We would gladly buy a piece of art to add some thickness to the rail-thin runway'as long as they aren’t secretly spending the money on coke. When it comes to Puerto Rican women, sometimes it seems like mainstream pop culture can’t get past Jennifer Lopez. We’ll always have love for Jenny from the Block (so many good times!), but damn, there are plenty of other boricua stunners to set your sites on.

It’s been damn near seven years since this Complex ‘03 cover girl stole the big screen from Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker in Rush Hour 2. Now she stars on CBS’ crime drama Without A Trace. Her Complex photo spread still beats ‘em all. Take that Brett Ratner!

Adrienne Bailon

Consider this half-Puerto Rican/half-Ecuadorian singer the BeyoncÃ© of 3LW. The real superstar of the young R&B trio has gone on to act in Disney TV shows like The Cheetah Girls and That’s So Raven. Recently she’s been linked to Kim Kardashian’s brother Robert, and rumor has it they might have recently gotten married.

Melonie Diaz

This around the way girl from New York’s Lower East Side has been likened to Rosario Dawson for her cutesy looks and for making a splash in the indie flick the A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints. Somebody let her know that we’d like to grab a margarita with her at The Hat on Stanton Street.

Susie Castillo

Susie Castillo is actually part Puerto Rican part Dominican'still the best of both worlds. The MTV VJ became Miss U.S.A. in 2003, then landing a role in Disney’s Underdog, which she promoted being photographed under bed sheets in the pages of Complex. Reagan Gomez-Preston

Better known as Zaria Peterson on Robert Townsend’s family comedy The Parenthood, we knew Reagan had grown up when we caught her co-starring with DMX in Never Die Alone, and portraying Young Chris‘ boo in the video for “No Better Luv.” J. Lo who?

One thing reggae fans can look forward to every summer is VP Records‘ annual release of their Reggae Gold series. The compilation, which has gathered the past year’s top hits since 1992, never disappoints (it helps that virtually every major reggae artist is already affiliated with the label).

And aside from the music, it’s always exciting to see the fly female that they choose to grace the cover. As we near the release of Reggae Gold 2008 on June 17th, we decided to compile all the covers from the last 10 years and let you decide which model looks the best.
