It’s hard to make a commercial for a book that’s actually entertaining (okay, this one is pretty awesome), but we should have known Louis Vuitton would figure out a way. To breathe life into their new book Louis Vuitton: Art, Fashion and Architecture, the French masters hired artist Camille Scherrer (who created this amazing “Magic Book” video last year) to animate an ad. The book, which is a retrospective of the brand’s history of artist/designer/photographer/architect collaborations, drops in September and features the likes of Takashi Murakami, Miss.Tic, Stephen Sprouse, Annie Leibovitz, Marc Jacobs, and over 70 others. While the world awaits the release of Jay’s highly anticipated Blueprint 3, Hova was recently spotted dining at one his favorite restaurants, Nobu, more than likely eating away the pain of being murdered by his li’l bro on his second single, “Run This.” And as he stated on his first (and second) singles, Jigga was decked head-to-toe in all black—jacket, shirt, sneakers, chain, everything was murdered out. We already told you what the 10 best black items for the summer are, but if that wasn’t enough, check below to see how you jock Jay-Z and cop the blacked out look.
On Thursday, July 23rd, Pegleg, Casio, and Union NYC will drop 100 of these bad boys. Available exclusively at the store (176 Spring Street, NYC) and online at peglegnyc.com. This project will mark UNION NYC’s last collaboration – a closing of its Skittles door? We’ll see.
Louis Vuitton takes an average interview (?!) and makes it awesome through the power of editing. It helps that the subject is outer space, but still. Great job, handbags for everyone! [Louis Vuitton Journeys]
France has given us some cool brands over the years: Peugeot, Dom Perignon, and Perrier, to name a few. But no type of French import has had as much impact globally as the country’s fashion. Since we already showed you its top 10 stunners, in honor of Bastille Day, we’re paying homage to the top 10 French brands and stores. From runway looks to Parisian street wear, Dior to Colette, check out which ones made our list. Vive la France!
Just a year ago, no one knew who Mr. Hudson was. Then Kanye West took an interest in the London artist and gave him his big break with a feature and production credit on 808s & Heartbreak.
After lending a helping hand to other projects like Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3, Hudson is gearing up for the release of his solo debut, Straight No Chaser, out later this year on G.O.O.D. Music/Def Jam. When he stopped by the Complex office, we talked about everything from Auto-Tune backlash to how ‘Ye named his LV shoes. Read on for the full interview and to watch the brand new video for “Supernova” featuring Kanye West…
Now that Yeezy mania is over, it’s officially time for LV-eezy mania to start. We just got official word that Mr. West’s set of Louis Vuitton sneakers are “estimated” to drop tomorrow, July 1, at LV stores around the globe. The Dons, Jaspers, and Mr. Hudson, all named after people belonging to Kanye’s inner circle, will hit the swanky shelves of LV retailers, after the hard release date was kept quiet. If you have $870+ laying around the crib, then go for it if you want to reign supreme with dudes who like looking at other dudes’ sneakers. No shots! Check more pics of the Dons below… $870+, http://www.kanyeuniversecity.com/blog/, louisvuitton.com
