Booze Buy it Now: MoMa Spherical Ice Tray

spherical_ice_tray
It’s hot out there folks, and nothing washes away the Friday work day like a nice cool drink. And by “drink,” we mean “awesome liquor w/ice in a glass.” One of the side effects of it being hot and sunny out though, is that the ice melts and waters down your cocktail. Luckily for you, the folks over at MoMa have created an XL spherical ice tray that makes giant ice cubes. Big ice cubes not only look cool, they melt more slowly so that your drink stays cool without turning into a watery mess. What’s your adult beverage of choice? Check out our poolside recommendation and the Buy It Now info below for these super ice cubes…

Events Just Blaze Wraps Up L-R-G & Courvoisier’s Spring Tour

jb_lead.jpg
L-R-G and Courvoisier have travelled a long road together in the past month. The two brands put their heads together for a partnership that has produced an exclusive line of products (jackets, mountain bikes, Nintendo Wii’s, to flat screen TV’s, etc), giving consumers an up-close preview of the limited edition line at pop-up shops nationwide.

Last night, for the final leg of the tour, super-producer Just Blaze and Complex’s DJ Treats turned the Lower East Side’s Reed Space into a virtual sweat box, pumping out heavy-hitting tunes for a memorable close to an even more memorable collaboration. See more photos of JB (sporting his Megatron Don x LRG tee), The Alchemist, DJ Clark Kent, and LRG rep Jonas Bevaqua after the jump.

Booze The Lazy Man’s Wine Bottle

winelabelcups.jpg
Wine-drinking etiquette rule #1: do not pop the cork and immediately start chugging out the bottle. We know the urge is strong, but society’s pesky “rules” require that we use containers (sometimes called “glasses”) to drink wine out of. For those dire times when you need a splash of that white and there isn’t a stemless flute in sight, designer Viktor Pucsek has crafted an innovative wine bottle concept called Vinho Verde for the PapaMama Design Competition. The bottle’s label is actually two foldable paper cups that can be slid out and used in a pinch. See the magic for yourself after the jump.

Booze Belvedere’s Jagger Ice Dagger Kinda Scares Us

icepick_belvedere.jpgEver since we saw Basic Instinct, the sight of a beautiful woman wielding an icepick has struck fear (and arousal) into our hearts (and pants).

Hoping to capitalize on the hand-cracked ice trend (ice trays are for peasants), Belvedere Vodka has teamed with designer/Rolling Stones spawn Jade Jagger to create the “Jagger Ice Dagger.” This $250,000 piece, which is dipped in everything from white gold to diamonds to sapphires, is available at jiggy international retailers like Harrod’s in London. A $10,000 version will also be available for those of us less inclined to take out a third mortgage on the house.

Booze Absolut Makes Music To Our Tastebuds

absolut.jpg

Absolut’s witty print ads were just the beginning. Their latest project, Absolut Machines allows visitors of their website to create tunes to be interpreted by a machine that plays them better than any white-gloved dude with a snifter glass, and a fork. To see Absolut’s innovation in action, head over to 186 Orchard St., NYC, or just watch the video already.

Books Extra Good

Manifest-XO-Cover1.jpg

After partying away the Memorial Day weekend, the last thing we needed was to come back to work with a package from Hennessy waiting for us. Fortunately, the company hadn't slipped us a bottle of the Henn-dog, but instead Hennessy's new coffee table book, Manifesto X.O. Teaming up with renowned classy rapper Common for some guest editing, Manifest X.O. quenches our thirst for style by supplying dudes with useful tips on dining etiquette, bedding a lady (like a gentleman, of course), and picking the best timepiece. Now we'll finally make it to the second date.
