Left To Right: Clipse, Bassment Jaxx, Lil’ Wayne, Plies, John Mayer

Each day Complex scours the music blogs for 5 fresh songs that you should listen to in our 5 O’Clock Shuffle post. Instead of going crazy trying to keep up with your RSS feeds everyday, just head over to Complex.com to stay up-to-date on important leaks and releases.

It’s that time of the day again. Today was a good day on the blogs too. Clipse dropped another crazy record from the upcoming album; Bassment Jaxx is back in the game; Wayne added a verse to the Khaled single; Plies linked up with Jeezy; John Mayer linked with Taylor Swift. We know there’s something in there that you wanna check out. Hit the jump to get started…

SONG: “Doorman”
DOWNLOAD: [LINK]
• Till The Casket Drops is less than a month away and heat from the album continues to hit the web. The Neptunes handled production on this one. The music video premieres on Monday.

SONG: “My Turn”
ARTIST: Bassment Jaxx f/ Lightspeed Champion
DOWNLOAD: [LINK]
• The DJ veterans are back on the scene and it doesn’t feel like they’ve missed a step, even after all of these years. The instrumental is on point and British singer Lightspeed Champion goes in on the vocals. Think about your old girlfriend when you listen to this record.

SONG: “Fed Up”
ARTIST: DJ Khaled f/ Lil’ Wayne, Usher, Young Jeezy, Rick Ross & Drake
• Yeah, Khaled’s single is old news (two weeks in Internet time), but the Weezy verse is brand new. Swap this version in for the outdated one sitting on your hard drive.

SONG: “So Bad”
DOWNLOAD: [LINK]
• We’re not sure what project this collab is meant for, but at the rate that Plies releases albums, it’s a safe bet that this might wind up on whatever LP he’s cooking up next. Beware: the complete record hasn’t leaked yet.

SONG: “Half Of My Heart”
• Why not? Mayer’s last single was dope and Swift is the second hottest chick in the (country music) game. You know this will have the elevators and coffee shops on lock.

Today’s playlist is, dare we say, odd. Black Rob is out of jail and making music again. Another Rihanna song leaked. Huey and Lil’ Wayne are trying to keep auto-tune alive. Then there’s Gift of Gab’s collab with a couple more notable backpack rappers. If anything, the diversity of today’s Shuffle means there’s something here you wanna listen to. Get started after the jump…

Left To Right: Wale, Lil’ Wayne, Rihanna, Yeasayer, Raekwon

Each day Complex scours the music blogs for 5 fresh songs that you should listen to in our 5 O’Clock Shuffle post.
If you haven’t noticed, the music blogs were slow today, but we’ve pulled together five noteworthy records from the weekend that you probably missed out on while you were trick-or-treating. There’s an album cut from Wale, Rihanna’s second single, a bonus track from Wayne’s new mixtape, and more to look forward to. Hit the jump to start listening…

SONG: “90210″
DOWNLOAD: [LINK]
• Poor Wale. His debut album leaked over the weekend. The good news is that he’s proven himself as more than a prematurely hyped rapper because there are some great songs on the LP. This Mark Ronson-produced cautionary tale for fame-obsessed young women is one of them.

SONG: “Single”
ARTIST: Lil’ Wayne
• For those of you who downloaded the leaked No Ceilings and passed on the official version, you’re not missing out on anything, except for this low key gem. Add it to your copy of the tape if you haven’t already.

SONG: “Wait Your Turn”
ARTIST: Rihanna
DOWNLOAD: [LINK]
• We weren’t really feeling RiRi’s first single, but as we predicted, the second record off Rated R is way nicer.

SONG: “Ambling Alp”
ARTIST: Yeasayer
DOWNLOAD: [LINK]
• Rap leaks always outpace those of other genres, so it’s essential to grab the dope alternative joints when they come around. This 80s-influenced jam from Brooklyn boys Yeasayer will help diversify your playlists.

SONG: “Stay Off The Fuckin’ Flowers”
ARTIST: Blakroc f/ Raekwon
DOWNLOAD: [LINK]
• We introduced you to Dame Dash and The Black Keys’ rock-infused side project a while ago. The latest track to leak from the album is on point, just like the last one.

It’s 5:00 and you already know what we do at this time everyday. Today’s Shuffle has a nice mix of new songs. There’s a potential single from Missy and Pharrell, and one of the best tracks from Wayne’s new mixtape. Then we have a couple underground gems from Jay Electronica and Madvillain. DJ Khaled just dropped another one of his posse cuts too. Surely, there’s something on here that interests you. Hit the jump to start listening…

• No confirmation on whether this is a legit single or not, but it sounds like it could be. Missy is back to her old ways, talking in an almost indecipherable language and making it sound dope at the same time.

• The quality is kind of suspect on this radio rip, but Jay Elec kills it hard enough to make it worth listening to. Just Blaze did the beat too, in case you’re wondering.

• J. Rocc premiered some new Madvillain material on his radio show last night, and it sounds great, but no MP3 is available for download yet, so all we have is the audio stream from YouTube above. • Khaled has a new album, Victory, coming out next year and what’s a Khaled album without a star-studded first single? Take a listen and see how this stacks up against previous bangers like “We Takin’ Ova” and “Brown Paper Bag.”

Each day Complex scours the music blogs for 5 fresh songs that you should listen to in our 5 O’Clock Shuffle post. Instead of going crazy trying to keep up with your RSS feeds everyday, just head over to Complex.com to stay up-to-date on important leaks and releases.

Welcome back. We’re starting the week off right with several dope songs that leaked over the weekend and earlier today. Rock. Pop. Rap. R&B. All the genres are covered, so whether you’re only checking for one song or you’re interested in everything, we got you, son. As always, streams and download links are a click away. Hit the jump to get started…

SONG: “Can’t Stop Partying”
ARTIST: Weezer f/ Lil’ Wayne
DOWNLOAD: [LINK]
• Weezer. Weezy. This collab was bound to happen based on names alone. The song will probably catch some hate from overly critical rock and rap fans alike, but it’s an enjoyable record at its core. We won’t be surprised if this is all over the radio a couple months down the line.

SONG: “Play Ball”
ARTIST: Soulja Boy & Drake
DOWNLOAD: [LINK]
• These guys have been publicly declaring their respect for one another for a while now and they’ve finally teamed up for a track. Look out for this on Soulja’s Paranormal Activity mixtape dropping on Halloween.

SONG: “Run This Town”
ARTIST: Lil’ Wayne
DOWNLOAD: [LINK]
• Here’s another one from No Ceilings, also dropping on Halloween. It almost seems like it was recorded specifically for those in the “I’m tired of Lil’ Wayne” club. Those people usually complain about his Auto-Tuned singing or faux-rock music, but there’s none of that here. Dude spits for three minutes straight and kills it.

SONG: “I Like”
ARTIST: Keri Hilson
DOWNLOAD: [LINK]
• You’ll find this on the soundtrack for the European film, Zweiohrküken. It’s a bit of a departure from Keri’s Stateside hits, but in a good way. Dope song for sure.

SONG: “Rockband”
ARTIST: Usher
DOWNLOAD: [LINK]
• Usher needs multiple hits to make his comeback official, so why wouldn’t he work with the producer that sent Lady GaGa to the top of the Billboard charts multiple times? The RedOne production is on point but the concept is a little ehhhh. “Papers” is definitely hotter.

The weekend isn’t here just yet, but the last thing you need to be doing on your days of freedom is searching for new music. Now is the time to start loading up iPods, making playlists, burning CDs (really?) or whatever else you do with your new songs. As usual, we have everything to guarantee that you have the freshest joints (not those kind) out there. MP3 streams and download links wait after the jump. Keep reading to get started…

• Our readers are still going at each other in the comments section of yesterday’s controversial interview with Fif. Coincidentally, this dropped yesterday too, but we had to post it today. This is one of his better songs in a while.

• Timbo might wanna check someone in his camp because his stuff leaks like no other. That’s good news for us though, because most of the tracks from Shock Value 2 have been on point, including this one. At least give it a spin for the Hov verse.

• Travis’ rock remixes of rap songs aren’t as fresh-sounding as they were when he was drumming on “Crank Dat Soulja Boy” two years ago, but he always manages to go the fuck in anyway. Never imagined him remxing Slaughterhouse though. We posted the original version of this record months if you wanna check that out too.

• Homegirl is definitely a product of the post-M.I.A./Santigold climate for female musicians, but it’s cool because her shit doesn’t sound corny. Sleigh Bells might not be a big name like the four other artists on here today, but don’t sleep on this banger. It might wind up being your favorite of the bunch.

Today wasn’t a bad day on the music blogs. The Game finally dropped something that may or may not be on his next album. Wayne songs keep leaking. Chris Brown released his second single. We have all of that and a couple more songs for you to download. Keep reading to check ‘em out…

• This might wind up on The R.E.D. Album, which is scheduled for a December 1 release date (yeah, right). Unlike most of his stuff from the summer, this isn’t a diss record.

SONG: “Thinking To Myself”
• While Wayne is preoccupied with a court appearance today, someone must be taking the opportunity to run through his vaults because songs are leaking left and right. This is a Young Money cut from the pre-Drake days.

SONG: “Crawl”

Each day Complex scours the music blogs for 5 fresh songs that you should listen to in our 5 O’Clock Shuffle post. Instead of going crazy trying to keep up with your RSS feeds everyday, just head over to Complex.com to stay up-to-date on important leaks and releases.

The weekend was packed with leaks from big-name artists. Haven’t been glued to the computer for the past couple days? No worries. Today’s playlist is your one-stop shop for playing catch up. We’d let you know what we have in store, but you see the picture above and you recognize all of those guys. You know the drill. Keep it moving and get to the MP3 streams and download links after the jump…

SONG: “Look Out”
ARTIST: Lil’ Wayne
DOWNLOAD: [LINK]
• Here’s another rock record from Weezy. It’s pretty much in line with his previous forays into the genre. That’s a good thing for some people and the opposite for others. Listen and decide.

SONG: “Who Says”
ARTIST: John Mayer
DOWNLOAD: [LINK]
• Hip-hop fucks with John Mayer for a reason. Let’s use this track’s chorus as a point of reference: “who says I can’t get stoned?” Anyone who can put a pot-smoking anthem on adult contemporary radio is cool with us.

SONG: “Believe It Or Not”
ARTIST: Drake f/ Gucci Mane
DOWNLOAD: [LINK]
• It was only a matter of time before two of the hottest “new” rappers collaborated. Their sharp difference in musical backgrounds is glaring, but it’s a solid effort nonetheless. Fans of both will be pleased.

SONG: “Taking My Ball”
ARTIST: Eminem
DOWNLOAD: [LINK]
• People are complaining about this song, but do you really expect Em to give away his best material for a video game soundtrack? We still have no doubts that Relapse 2 will be insane.

SONG: “I’m Good (Remix)”
ARTIST: Clipse f/ Rick Ross
DOWNLOAD: [LINK]
• The official remix finally hit the blogs and it’s as dope as expected. Listen out for the Complex cover shout out too. The music video should be out soon.

SONG: “Spotlight”
ARTIST: Gucci Mane f/ Usher
DOWNLOAD: [LINK]
• After flooding the streets with three mixtapes this weekend, Gucci finally released a real single from The State vs. Radric Davis. Everyone knows girls buy albums, so if this catches on, dude will probably move units.

The blogs were kind of quiet again today, but we still managed to scrape together five download-worthy songs for the playlist. Shakira linked up with Wayne and Timbo, Wiz Khalifa finally dropped a real single, and some unknown kid from Virginia dropped one of the hottest indie rocks tracks of the year. That’s not all of it either. Keep reading for the MP3 streams and download links…

SONG: “Give It Up To Me”
• Ryan Seacrest premiered this track on his radio show this morning. Keeping it 100, this one is a little disappointing for all the big names featured on it.

SONG: “This Plane”
ARTIST: Wiz Khalifa
DOWNLOAD: [LINK]
• Wiz has been killing mixtapes for a minute now, but he finally has an album on the way. This is the first single from Deal Or No Deal and it sounds pretty good. Dope album title too.

SONG: “Bye Bye Bayou”
ARTIST: LCD Soundsystem
DOWNLOAD: [LINK]
• James Murphy made one of the best albums of the decade back in 2007 and the next project drops in March. This won’t be on the new album but it’s worth a listen if you’re a fan LCD’s previous work.

SONG: “Confirmation”
ARTIST: Wild Nothing
DOWNLOAD: [LINK]
• These one-man-bands are really starting to take over the indie rock scene, aren’t they? It’s hard to complain when the music is good though. Most of these “bands” will pass by, but this Wild Nothing guy has a chance of sticking around if he keeps making songs like this.

SONG: “Face Drop (Remix)”
• It’s no secret that we make fun of the kid sometimes, but yeah, Sean Kingston makes hits.
Forget dressing like Birdman—follow our style guide to the Young Money look instead.

Usually when we tell you guys how to get the look from a video—like last week’s style guide to the “Forever” video—we include all of the performing artists. But since we couldn’t advocate dressing like Birdman, we had to switch up the formula. (Sorry big homie—time to get a stylist.) Drake, on the other hand, has the style to match his flow while Lil’ Wayne has enough swag to make most outfits work. (Long live the plain white tee.)

A quick reminder: These posts do not provide exact carbon-copy ensembles, but are instead meant to serve as guidelines on creating a similar outfit. That said, read on to learn how to get the Young Money look and still have some cash left over so you can afford that 24-hour champagne diet…

It’s hard to believe sometimes, but Drake is still technically a new artist. The kid has accomplished a lot in the past several months, but getting Kanye, Wayne, and Eminem to contribute verses to his lost mixtape cut “Forever” and clear their schedules to star in the music video, directed by Hype Williams no less, might be his most impressive task to date. Of course, the LeBron James factor (the song is on the soundtrack for his upcoming documentary) was probably helpful in getting all parties involved too. Just like Drizzy’s first big video, this one is already host to a bevy of mixed opinions, but that’s to be expected. No matter how you feel about the video, it’s a major look regardless.

Left To Right: Young Money, Salem, Juelz Santana, Free Energy, Jadakiss

Each day Complex scours the music blogs for 5 fresh songs that you should listen to in our 5 O’Clock Shuffle post. Instead of going crazy trying to keep up with your RSS feeds everyday, just head over to Complex.com to stay up-to-date on important leaks and releases.

Some days it’s a scramble to find new music leaking from notable artists, but the choices were plentiful today. Lil’ Wayne, Drake, and the the rest of the Young Money posse came through with what’s sure to be another hit. Psychedelic rockers Salem dropped some heat almost exactly a year after we first started checking for them. Even Chris Brown found his way onto our Shuffle playlist. The crazy thing is, that’s not even half of what we have waiting for you after the jump (okay, it kind of is, but you know what we mean). Keep reading to check out today’s mix…

SONG: “Bed Rock”
ARTIST: Young Money (Lil’ Wayne, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Gudda Gudda, Lloyd)
DOWNLOAD: [LINK]
• Turns out “Every Girl” was just a buzz builder and this is the first official Young Money single. Like its predecessor, this one also has major hit potential (corny Flintstones line notwithstanding). The rough version with more YM artists leaked too, but we like this one more.

SONG: “Frost”
ARTIST: Salem
DOWNLOAD: [LINK]
• This New York/Michigan/Chicago band first caught our attention with last year’s self-titled EP and they’re still making great music a year later. Creepy and cold are words that come to mind when describing their sound, but the slightly out of place (in a good way) rap-esque drums bring everything full circle.

SONG: “Back To The Crib”
ARTIST: Juelz Santana f/ Chris Brown
DOWNLOAD: [LINK]
• With the Skull Gang leader’s always upcoming album in serious limbo, we’re not sure if this will really wind up on Born To Lose Built To Win, but Miss Info insists that it’s the plan. Although this isn’t our favorite Juelz song ever or anything, It’s been four years since the last album. We’re just happy to hear something.

SONG: “Something In Common”
ARTIST: Free Energy
DOWNLOAD: [LINK]
• The hype is just starting to build for these new kids from Philly and we bet there’s more on the way. Not only are they actually making rock music when every band is making electro/synth, but they’ve already turned heads with just one 7″ single release. Can’t wait to see what upcoming EP and LP releases, as well as a Fall tour, do for them.

SONG: “Take Me To NY”
ARTIST: Jadakiss
DOWNLOAD: [LINK]
• Riding the coattails of Hov’s soon-to-be smash, “Empire State Of Mind,” Kiss offers his own, less radio-friendly, tribute to the Big Apple in this short but sweet record. Gotta respect the hometown pride.

Let’s be honest, a Madonna x Lil’ Wayne collaboration was inevitable, and not just because Weezy will hop on a track with anybody. See, the Queen of Pop has been working with MCs since big sis was still playing with Barbie. Not everyone knows about her roots in the genre, but Complex is here to explain all of that. Keep reading to check out our retrospective on Madonna’s long history with hip-hop…

1985: Madonna Brings The Beasties On Tour
• In a move that puzzled many at the time, Madonna pegged The Beastie Boys as the opening act on her Like A Virgin Tour. Fans didn’t respond well and booed the pre-Licensed To Ill rappers off stage at multiple stops.

1986: The Queen Of Pop Goes Dutch
• Rap had barely been around for a decade, but Dutch group MC Miker G & DJ Sven tried their hand at the craft and scored big with “Holiday Rap,” which sampled Madonna’s 1983 hit of the same name (sans Rap). The song didn’t do well in the US but reached #1 in 34 countries, including France, Germany, Switzerland, and of course, The Netherlands.

PE didn’t seek legal action against Madge or producer Lenny Kravitz because of their own sampling tendencies. Instead, they had Young Black Teenagers record a response record called “To My Donna” over the same beat. DJ Quik continued the trend, giving the song another stamp in the hip-hop world when he sampled it for Jay-Z’s “Justify My Thug” years later.

From 50 Cent to Drake, Complex counts down the greatest street releases of the last decade.

While creating our massive 100 Best Albums of the 2000s countdown (click here if you haven’t seen it yet), we realized that some of the dopest releases of the decade weren’t albums at all. Thanks to the rise of the internet, the once local phenomenon of mixtapes went worldwide in the last 10 years, resulting in releases that are just as memorable as (and in some cases, more memorable than) a proper retail album.

While there have certainly been some amazing DJ-based blend tapes (Dirty Harry & DJ Vlad’s Rap Phenomenon and Danger Mouse’s The Grey Album come to mind), the Aughts were overwhelmingly dominated by a different type of mixtape: the street album. Single artist-based mixtapes have become a way for rappers to showcase their abilities outside of the record label system, and for consumers, they have more long-term appeal than the disposable “exclusive”-based DJ mixes of the ’90s. Check out our countdown of 10 mixtape album classics…

#10: Mood Muzik 2
Joe Budden & DJ On Point

Released: 2006

After his descent from “Pump it Up” to seemingly unending label purgatory, Budden was feeling kinda blue, and everyone knew it. What’s next? Prozac rap. From offering his girl an abortion to mourning his shitty car, all the while peppered with his signature punchlines (”I’m on my Eric Benet shit, fuck everything”), Budden found that seven-minute tracks full of ennui was a viable lane, and Jerz loved him for it.

The P$C & DJ Drama

Released: 2004

With the exception of Ja Rule, few rappers have had their careers ethered by another artist as thoroughly as Lil Flip. The Houston Leprechaun started running his mouth about the self-proclaimed King of the South, so Tip unleashed a hilariously effective campaign of destruction, culminating with this early DJ Drama classic. Released in anticipation of Urban Legend, it debuted “U Don’t Know Me” and featured a phone call with Scarface where the H-Town legend said he’d “never ever ever” seen Flip in the ’hood he claimed. Clipse & Clinton Sparks

Released: 2006

Despite the success of their 2002 album Lord Willin’, the Thornton brothers wound up sitting on the shelf at their record label. No problem. The endless delays of their follow-up album surely inspired the excellent We Got It For Cheap series, with Volume 2 being the standout. For 18 tracks, Pusha and Malice (with support from Ab-Liva and Sandman) traded some of the year’s most prolific, coked-out verses over some of the year’s best beats and effectively held fans over until Hell Hath No Fury hit a year later.

He showed love to his new crew by rapping over Em beats (”Soldier”), debuted his first official single “Wanksta,” and collected all the NYC radio freestyles that the rest of the world had been missing.
Each day Complex scours the music blogs for 5 fresh songs that you should listen to in our 5 O’Clock Shuffle post.
Like every other living citizen, you’re probably ready for the weekend. Well, enjoy the last few days of summer the right way and don’t waste any time on the computer looking for new songs. We got five new tracks for you to listen to and download for the next playlist you fire up. Get your weekend started after the jump…

SONG: “Trunk Music”
ARTIST: Strong Arm Steady f/ The Game
DOWNLOAD: [LINK]
• Strong Arm Steady teamed up with The Game for this ode to trunk-rattling sound systems. Hopefully yours can handle the bump.

SONG: “Pick Up The Phone”
ARTIST: Dragonette
DOWNLOAD: [LINK]
• This should be reminiscent of your sister’s pop music that you’re embarassed to enjoy. No shame here though. This song is quite the jam if you’re willing to disregard your masculinity for a few minutes.

SONG: “Pusha”
ARTIST: Lloyd f/ Lil’ Wayne
DOWNLOAD: [LINK]
• The frequent collaborators are together again over this smooth beat from The Runners. Wayne ousted his buddy Juelz Santana from the original version of the song, but we actually like his verse more.

SONG: “Don’t Give Up”
ARTIST: Lake
DOWNLOAD: [LINK]
• This sounds like something you’d hear in an excessively quirky indie flick, but those type of songs are usually dope, so fuck it. This breezy little number from Lake does the genre justice.

SONG: “What’s The Answer”
ARTIST: Termanology f/ Ea$y Money
DOWNLOAD: [LINK]
• We’re pretty weary of underground, “record labels are evil,” type of rap, but this song isn’t that bad. The message is a little preachy, but someone has to do it. At least they can rap.

It’s not hard to wear your favorite sneakers and dress sophisticated at the same time. Just think of it like rednecks and their mullets—business up top. Case in point: actor Tristan Wilds, Lil Wayne, and Soulja Boy were all recently seen wearing Kanye’s Air Yeezy with a grown man twist.

To balance out Kanye’s extravagant, futuristic yet retro signature shoe, all three dudes kept it clean and classy with cardigans. The seemingly unlikely pairing yielded a look that is smart and polished, but still cool and casual. But with all that said, who pulled off the look the best? Cast your vote below!

Drake made headlines over weekend when had a nasty accident. Watch videos of other celebs who fell while performing.

After tearing his ACL and limping around for weeks, Drake appeared to be back to normal while performing “Best I Ever Had” for a sold out audience at one of this weekend’s America’s Most Wanted Music Festival stops. That is until he made a spin move that caused him to tear another ligament and collapse on stage (click here to check out our exclusive Drake tour diary from the night in question).

Knowing the severity of his injury, we just hope the kid gets better soon, because while sometimes it’s funny to laugh at people falling down, this injury could be costly for the young MC. Although he’s the latest, Drizzy’s not the first artist to take a spill at a concert, so while we wait for him to recover, check out (and feel free to laugh at) 15 other Memorable Stage Tumbles…
