Lil Wayne’s A Milli Magazine Covers

lilwaynecovers.jpg
Boy, were we surprised to see the black MTV award Lil Wayne on the cover of the October issue of XXL. Riiiight. Weezy magazine covers are like his guest verses these days—fucking inescapable. Granted, homey’s had a big year and merits the attention, but goddamn! Jigga in his prime wasn’t this much of a newsstand whore.

Of course, we’re not without blame (*cough* but who was the first to use a crazy-as-fuck Wayne quote as a coverline? *cough*). So we felt it our duty to tally up Weezy’s big year as everyone’s favorite coverboy.

The Game & Lil Wayne Get Emo On ‘My Life’

gamewaynelax_main.jpg
The Game needs to join an emo band. After kicking off his third album L.A.X. with the feel-good hip-hop nostalgia anthem “Game’s Pain,” the Compton rapper is once again beating back the demons on his next single “My Life,” which DJ Haze just premiered.

On the song, which features Lil Wayne’s auto-tune crooning on the hook, Game contemplates suicide and gets into the deterioration of his relationship with Eminem: “All the pictures of me and Em, I burned ’em.” Awww. Listen to “My Life” below.

Brand Profile: Hot Air

hotairparis.jpgDespite its name, Hot Air isn’t full of it. Established in 2007 by Chike Ozah (one-half of directing team Coodie and Chike) and partners Bee Nguyen, Diego Carlin, Louis Yakich, and Duke Wu, the label is inspired by the most traditional way to get places: hot air balloons.

Not content with just churning out T-shirts, Hot Air also does hats and track jackets, all hooked up with the line’s trademark balloon-inspired graphics. Besides getting co-signed by streetwear’s forward-thinkers, look out for a Hot Air New Era to be featured in Lil Wayne’s upcoming “I Got Money” video. According to Nguyen, the company plans on debuting new Fall and Holiday 2008 Cut & Sew pieces at the Capsule tradeshow in NYC next week. The brand is stocked at shops like Memes New York, Fred Segal LA, and Made To Order in Philly. After the jump, check out their recent collabos with Diamond Supply and Greyone.

Are Yung Berg & Tyga Built For Beef?

berg_tyga_tough_edit.jpg
When you think of rappers talking smack, images of brolic heavyweight types like 50 Cent and Fat Joe come to mind. But recently, Yung Berg and Tyga—two light-weight MCs known for making teen-friendly crossover hits—have gotten caught in the crosshairs of rap beef. Berg claimed he would punch Florida MC Brisco, while Tyga released a video to clap back at G-Unit flunkie 40 Glocc, who claimed he stole the youngster’s chain.

For two positive kids who just want to make fun music, it’s sad that they’ve gotten pulled into the world of back and forth rap beef. But if they want to have a long career in the competitive hip-hop world, it certainly won’t be the last time they’ll make enemies. Which little guy will hold up better under the pressure? Watch both of their recent tough-guy videos and vote below.

Lil Wayne Saves His Money On ‘A Milli’

waynemillivideo_main.jpg
It’s gotten to the point where people are so entertained by Lil Wayne that all he has to do is videotape himself walking around and people are entertained. And that’s exactly what he did for the video to Tha Carter III’s “A Milli.”

The Bangladesh-produced track wasn’t intended to be a single, but given the fact that everyone from Jay-Z to Chris Brown has put their stamp on the beat, how could Weezy not put a visual out there for it? The video is as low budget as it gets, following Weezy from his trailer to the set of his next video, “Got Money” with T-Pain. Watch “A Milli” below.

Lloyd Gets “Girls” With Lil Wayne & Hype Williams

lloydwayne_main.jpgWe don’t normally post too much about R&B on Complex, but we definitely fucks with young Lloyd. Last year, the ATL-based singer hit #1 with “You,” his Spandau Ballet-sampling duet with Lil Wayne. So for the lead single to his new album Lessons In Love (due out July 22), he’s re-teamed with Weezy and producer Big Reese. Called “Girls Around The World,” it’s a summer jam in the making that flips Eric B. & Rakim’s “Paid In Full” beat.

The video just dropped last night, and we’re pleased to see Hype Williams at the helm. The highlights: Lloyd’s absurdly silky perm that would make Snoop jealous and a pack of crazy cyborg women with LED eyeballs. One more collabo like this between Lloyd and Wayne and people will be demanding that rumored Best of Young Worlds album. Watch the video below.
