Wake N’ Watch: Jeff Koons Studio Tour & “Popeye” Preview

With his long-awaited “Popeye” series set to debut at London’s Serpentine Gallery next Thursday (July 2), the UK’s Channel 4 catches up with Jeff Koons in his New York studio/factory. We get a glimpse at the creation of the new series, including some crazy aluminum replicas of blow-up toys (no, not that kind). He also goes into more detail about his upcoming $25 million train sculpture than he did in the previous studio tour that made the rounds in April.

Google Gets Artsy With Jeff Koons, Nigo & Marc Ecko

Manga master Osamu Tezuka’s iGoogle skins

Considering how much time we waste on Google, it would be nice to have something to look at other than a blank white screen. Recently, the company unveiled their new artist themes, which apply a variety of different looks to your personalized iGoogle homepage. Artists who contributed original skins for the project include Jeff Koons, Marc Ecko, The Beastie Boys, Os GÃªmeos and A Bathing Ape’s Nigo, plus over 60 others. Starting today, art from the series will also be on display on the streets of NYC’s Meatpacking District through the weekend. Jeff Koons Takes Manhattan

A balloon animal, a chocolate heart and Piglet from Winnie the Pooh currently have the one of the best views of NYC’s skyline. Today, an exhibit of pop artist Jeff Koons‘ work opens on the Cantor Roof Garden at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where it will remain through October 26. The display consists of three sculptures: (from left to right in the above image) “Coloring Book,” “Sacred Heart (Red/Gold)” and “Balloon Dog.” After the jump, check out each one up close.
