Why are the protesters so upset about Ben Stiller's new comedy? Our resident film critic Ayo! Scott breaks it down.

Ayo! Scott laughed so hard at Ben Stiller’s new comedy Tropic Thunder that it could well have been a retarded person. That’s no knock on retards or the champions of retardation who’ve been protesting the film’s apparently excessive usage of the word “retard.” Ayo’s just saying: Retards are funny. They were funny in the Stiller classic There’s Something About Mary and they’re funny in this movie'y’know, in what limited capacity they flex their limited capacities…

Despite all the hullabaloo, Tropic Thunder is not a movie devoted to mocking Special Olympians or anything. It actually lampoons (mmm, lampoons) Hollywood and all its countless douchebags'including those who play retard to show they have range. Stiller plays Tugg Speedman, one such brainless twat of an action star, who accidentally ends up in the middle of some real action with a bunch of other actors while trying to shoot a Vietnam War film. At his side are the award-winning Aussie character actor in blackface Kirk Lazarus (Robert Downey Jr.), the drug addicted star of flatulent comedy Jeff Portnoy (Jack Black), innocent newbie Kevin Sandusky (Jay Baruchel), and rapper-turned-actor Alpa Chino (Brandon T. Jackson). [Click here to read our recent interview with Jackson.]

In handling the situation, they, as well as director Damien Cockburn (Steve Coogan), tyrannical producer Les Grossman (Tom Cruise), pyrotechnics expert Cody (Danny McBride), and publicist Rick Peck (Matthew McConaughey), prove to be quite retarded. And because that is retardedly funny, Tropic Thunder deserves the retarded paper it should make. So who are the real retards? Oh, yes, the actual retards. Check out the trailer and decide if you’ve got a sense of humor.

The Knocked Up co-stars are reuniting in a new movie to find out what they would do after the world ends.

It’s easy to imagine what brolic action stars like Will Smith would do if they survived the end of the world, but what about some regular schlub like you? In their upcoming movie Jay and Seth Vs. The Apocalypse, former Knocked Up co-stars Seth Rogen and Jay Baruchel reunite to prove that instant death is not the only option. Holing yourselves up in your house until you go crazy is also a viable route.

The idea was originally made into a short last year, but now Mandate Pictures has hired Rogen and Evan Goldberg (who wrote Superbad together) to turn it into a full feature-length movie. We’re anticipating the best horror/comedy since Shaun Of The Dead. The film isn’t expected to hit theaters until 2009, so watch a trailer of the original short below.
