In case you hadn’t yet heard the news, Max B.’s conviction in that robbery-murder case in New Jersey has ended in a 75-year prison sentence. For a dude who didn’t pull any triggers, that seems a bit steep, but we digress. Despite the sadness of the occasion, we refuse to be swept into the outpouring of grief that is engulfing the Internet today, and instead choose to celebrate young Charley Wingate the way he would want us to: by reliving a few of his waviest moments. We’ll miss you, Max; hip-hop is about to get a whole lot more boring. Owwwwwwww!

Rappers Remember Sean Bell

Today the three New York Police officers that gunned down Sean Bell were found not guilty. With New York in an uproar over the outcome of last November’s shooting in front of Club Kalua, and protests by Al Sharpton in the works, rappers like Mickey Factz, Prodigy and Queensbridge affiliate Un Pacino also expressed their feelings about the trial before the outcome. Foxy Brown couldn’t have been released from Rikers on a nicer day. The sun is beaming, a fire hydrant is open somehwere in Brooklyn'it almost feels like the summer of ‘96…sort of.

With the eight rocky months she spent in the bing, Fox Boogie Brown is looking very different from the sexy young lady we first fell in love with. We can only hope 2008 will bring us back to that time when “Ain’t No N*gga” first hit, and F.O.X. strutted in skimpy poom-poom shorts and a wife beater. And so on this fine day, we tip our New Era fitteds and pour out a cold Guinness Stout to the Foxy we so dearly remember. Prodigy’s Supporting Cast Shows H.N.I.C. 2 Love

He might finally be gone, but Prodigy is far from forgotten. With P finally serving out his 3 year sentence, the mood was heavy yesterday as his extended family gathered at a special listening session for his new album H.N.I.C. Pt. 2. Most of the folks there have contributed to one or all of P’s solo projects, including Havoc, Alchemist, Twin Gambino, Cormega, Nyce Da Future and Un Pacino. Complex was in the house, and we asked them to reflect on their favorite Prodigy verses, past and present. Listen to the exclusive audio and see some photos from the event after the jump.

The Game Ends Speculation On Release

As it turns out, the Game was in fact released from prison last week according to an MTV report.

“Due to the sensitive negotiations on this matter I felt it appropriate not to give an exact date on my release.”

And the winner is…The Game! Despite the six days he spent in jail compared to Paris Hilton’s 23-day sentence, his street cred is unaffected by his short stay, especially given the circumstances of his felony charge for gun possession in a school zone.

The Game Free After 8 Days In Jail

Jayceon Taylor, a.k.a The Game was released today after serving 8 of his 60 days in jail. Paris Hilton, who served 23 on a 45-day sentence was unavailable for comment on her booming street cred.

UPDATE: Seems as though Jayceon is still behind bars, and was only moved to another housing facility causing the confusion, and rumor that he was released. We’ll continue to keep a close eye on the Paris/Game race for street-cred.
