Well, look what we have here. While looking through all the cars that are going to officially unveiled at the 2010 Geneva Auto Show, we noticed that most of the big unveils were hybrids. We’re not talking about a sneak peak at the 2012 Toyota Prius, or a Ford Fusion Hybrid Coupe. The hybrids being unveiled are either luxurious four-doors from nameplates like BMW and Mercedes-Benz, or super cars straight outta Stuttgart and Modena.
Most people think they’re ridiculous for embracing what they see as the hybrid trend. Granted, driving a hybrid is about as much fun as listening to OJ Da Juiceman read Twilight, but if anyone can push the technology forward it’s companies like Ferrari, Porsche, BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Who doesn’t love a good beef? Whatever the forum, there’s nothing better than seeing some open competition. Especially when that forum is the land of TV commercials. Last week, Audi dropped their “Friendly Competition” commercial to show how much better they’re doing than their fellow German automotive rival BMW. To the uninitiated this may seem crazy—so blatantly going at a rival in an ad—but Audi’s been doing this, and honestly, that wasn’t even their best one! And lately it seems every car maker has an itchy trigger finger, as we’ve seen a number of them taking shots at each other in commercials over the past few years. While you were out jockin’ M-B’s, Lexus’s and BMW’s, a little Korean company called Hyundai was creepin’ on the come up. Bet you didn’t know they’re now the 7th best selling automotive brand in the U.S., did you? Turns out a lot of Americans love low priced cars'who knew?
To celebrate, the company best known for econo-boxes is looking to go head to head with the big boys by introducing their new rear-wheel drive Genesis platform. Their first Genesis offering touching down in the states will be the amazingly priced 4.6 and 3.8 Sedan, followed later by the coupe.
