GM's infamous sports utility company is moving on. We've had some good times!

After announcing last August that they were looking for a prospective buyer for their Hummer brand, General Motors has finally found a suitor for their failed sport utility brand. So who was the genius that purchased the brand which become synonymous with the destruction of our planet and was hemorrhaging cash faster than Gucci Mane at Magic City? We’re not sure, GM won’t tell us.

All we know is that they’d have an easier time convincing the public to buy the new AfroMan album than they would convincing them to buy a Hummer. Maybe they could highlight all the good times the public has shared with the car. Don’t remember any? Don’t worry, we’ve compiled a couple of our favorite Hummer moments to jog your memory…

Originally created as a new age transport vehicle for the armed forces, the AM General’s (not to be confused with General Motors) High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (or HMMWV, bka Humvee) was the most raw and rugged SUV you could buy. Well, it would have been if you could buy it. At the behest of some wealthy Humvees (including Cali’s future Governor), AM General decided to make civilian versions of the Humvee under the brand name Hummer.

This new design concept for the SUV premiered at the SEMA auto show and will allow you to crush anything standing in the way of your travels.

Regardless of how today’s insane gas prices have left the Hummer an endangered species of SUV, it seems as though some engineers are focused on reinventing the 4 x 4. This tank-like twist on the original gas guzzler crawled into the 2008 SEMA auto show in Las Vegas, and immediately turned heads.

Similar to the all-terrain rubber tracks on snowmobiles, this concept H2T seems to apply the tire-to-tread conversion system (usually called Mattracks) that is commonly seen in off-road vehicles. Sure there’s no real improvement to the vehicle’s speed, but if you’re looking to push the truck that has the biggest balls on the road, keep tabs on the production of this beast. See more photos of the crawler below.

A group of Brits got their James Bond on and modified a full size H3 so it can be driven via joystick. Ghost ride the whip for real!

Aside from the bikini clad dimes, the other reason dudes watch James Bond movies is to see what crazy gadgets his team cooks up for him. And hands down, one of his hottest devices has to be the Sony Ericsson phone from Tomorrow Never Dies, which allowed him to remotely control his BMW 750iL. It was every grown ass kid’s dream toy, and now that dream has become a reality with the remote-controlled Hummer H3.

Built by Dr. James Brighton’s British team in about a month, the Hummer H3 can be driven by a handheld controller. The gas, break and steering are all controlled by hydraulic robotic systems, and the transmission has been modified to only have Drive, Reverse and Neutral. If you’re tired of pushin’ that Tyco around the ‘hood and wanna upgrade to an R/C Hummer, it’ll cost you no less than $70,000. After the jump, check out a video of Dr. Brighton showing off the whip.
