Movies 7 Half-Amazing Movie Man-Beasts

beasts_wolverine
Wolverine reps hard for the woodland creatures.

Internet leaks might cripple your average movie star, but Wolverine has regenerative properties and an indestructible metal adamantium skeleton. With that in mind, Complex fully expects Hugh Jackman and X-Men Origins: Wolverine to run the box office this weekend (unless, of course, you and your boys are gonna leave your nuts in the jars on your girls’ dressers and go see Ghosts of Girlfriends Past). That’s just how our mutant hero does—he beasts.

Now, despite his name and all that talk of unleashing the animal inside, dude is technically not an actual fusion of man and wolverine. In fact, “Wolverine” is just a code name that the Canadian government gave to their operative because, well, they have wolverines up north and he’s kinda vicious like they are. Sadly, that means he has all that facial hair just because he’s a dirty Canadian hipster. Anyway, Wolverine got us thinking about the best man-beasts in movies (yes, we went bestial). Peep our picks and let it roar if we left your favorite off. Sorry, but man-women don’t count…

Movies Claw and Order: Wolverine Footage Finally Leaks

While Ayo! Scott was off gallivanting at Comic-Con and pointedly not telling us about any of the cool shit he saw, we sat here in New York and got progressively more resentful. And now, when faced with the first footage of next May’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine that Hugh Jackman debuted at the Con, we’ve pretty much decided that we’re gonna go upside his film-critic dome with a roll of quarters in a sock when he prances back in the office.

Then again, the teaser is so crazy that the admittedly crappy cameraphone quality is still enjoyable. The footage, which focuses most on Wolvy and Liev Schreiber’s Sabretooth before they became the mutants we know and love, also gives a glimpse of some other X-Men standbys like Gambit and Blob. Even will.i.am makes an appearance, though we’re already on record as not seeing the logic of that casting. Our only other concern is that Deadpool (played by Ryan Reynolds) is nowhere to be found. Watch the footage below.

TV Wolverine Leads The X-Men Back Into Animation

wolverinexmentoon_main.jpg
Back in the mid-'90s, the Fox’s original X-Men cartoon dominated Saturday mornings. Now, after three blockbuster live action movies and an animated series about the mutants as teenagers (X-Men: Evolution), it looks like the entire franchise is shifting its focus towards Wolverine. The X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie comes out next May, the first issue of the Old Man Logan comic just dropped, and now Nickelodeon is preparing their new series Wolverine And The X-Men.

While the show won’t debut until next Spring, Marvel announced that they will be debuting the pilot at this year’s San Diego Comic Con. Watch two new trailers for the series below.
