Wake N’ Watch: “The Cove” Documentary Trailer

Shot by award-winning former National Geographic photographer Louie Psihoyos, The Cove is a guerrilla-style documentary that captures the mass killing of dolphins each year at Taiji, Wakayama in Japan. The movie is being heralded by critics (it won the Audience Award at Sundance this year) for its combination of stunning visuals and disturbing secret footage—the director has described it as a mix of Jacques Cousteau and James Bond.

You may recall back in 2007, when Heroes star Hayden Panettiere had to flee Japan after an activist group she was surfing with tried to free a group of dolphins at Taiji from the nets of fishermen. The resulting confrontation is also captured in The Cove, which hits select theaters this weekend. Just don’t expect it to play in Japan…for some reason they think Americans complaining about killing a few thousand dolphins is a tad hypocritical, considering the fact that our factory farms slaughter billions of animals each year. But hey, that’s beside the point. Go dolphins!

In 2006, the Splash star chained herself to a Los Angeles oak tree to prevent its impending removal. It turned out to be the first time it took more than one fireman to remove a pussy from a tree. Meow.

Edward Furlong: Look, everyone enjoys a good lobster for dinner once in a while, but Eddie took his love for the red-clawed crustacean a step further in 2004. As a protest to what he felt was animal cruelty, Furolong released a bunch of lobsters from a Kentucky grocery store. When police arrived on the scene, they said Furlong was “turning around in circles, and was absolutely shit-faced.” Not in those words exactly, but yeah dude was trashed.

Coincidentally, “Katrina Clap” is also the name of a nasty STD floating around the New York City penal system.

Hollywood starlets know how to keep themselves from getting bored between takes. When they’re not launching clothing lines or filming sex tapes, it seems like singing has become their favorite extra-curricular activity. After the musical non-success of Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and Scarlett Johansson, Heroes star Hayden Panetierre is now prepping her debut album, Eclectic.
