Style Retail Spotlight: Estate Los Angeles

Alongside the body builders, hobos with lizards, and the occasional tranny on rollerskates that populate Venice Beach, California, a fitted cap boutique known as Estate still manages to stand out. When the American-made, independent company entered the marketplace in October 2006, they had to find a way for their limited-edition caps to compete with fitted giants like New Era. Not an easy task, but their original designs and premium fabrics have made them a sought-after brand on the Left Coast.

As a testament to their burgeoning popularity, Estate opened it’s flagship store in Los Angeles last week. The minimal interior is lined wall-to-wall with their most popular styles like plaid, seersucker, and the store’s signature L.A. branded, all of which start at $40. Check out some more shots of the store below.

Style Trendhumper: Fisherman Hats

fabolous_fisherman.jpg
We’ve always trusted the Gordon’s Fisherman for his choice of seafood, but it’s his taste in hats we’re most proud of. Who knew the bucket-style head gear worn by seamen would make such a splash in the world of fashion? The nautical look has been making its presence known since it first crossed over into hip-hop in the '80s.

EPMD set things off by rocking their signature headgear on the cover to their sophomore album Unfinished Business, but now high-class brands like Gucci have given the bucket hat a luxurious makeover, as seen on Fabolous at this year’s Summer Jam (above). Are you brimming with confidence in this summer style? “Hump” or “Dump” the bucket hat trend after the jump.
