Man, if only Jimmy Rollins was a skater, or the Phillies beat the Yankees last year, these Phila-inspired Half Cabs would’ve made perfect sense. Even though we wouldn’t think of rocking them at Citi Field, we have to admit the grey/maroon (Vans actually dubbed it Grey/Philly) scheme is pretty dope. Check for these in Vans retailers around the country, right now.
Iconic skaters like Steve Caballero have been lacing up Half Cabs since the 90s, (stay tuned for our insightful skate-shoe history piece from our Oct issue) but these HC Pro's might be too pretty to rip. The uppers are hooked up with premium leather and the dark muted colors are the move for Fall. The best part? They're in line models, so you won't have to go nuts hunting for a Syndicate dealer. Check for them now in stores around the nation. More pics below…
Sure the economy sucks, but don't expect Vans to ever be caught in the red as long as the Half Cab is around. With spring right around the corner, expect a handful of different colorways to drop, each doper than the next. This Red/White/Black suede scheme is the first release of next season and will be available in a wide release. Recession? What recession? Cop 'em for under $60.
The formula for this sneaker is pretty simple: Take the Jordan IV colorway and apply it to everyone's favorite Vans silhouette. The color scheme hasn't been done often on the Half-Cabs, but the black/red/gray is no joke on this skate-rat classic. Play the tough guy this Spring while everyone else is rocking their light-colored kicks, we won't tell anyone you're actually really soft.
By now the Era has solidified itself as the warm-weather dirty-downtown hipster's go-to. Looking ahead to Summer, Vans will pump out more one-toned Eras, and new colorways of the Half Cab for those a little more brolic. Not surprisingly, they're already available overseas. We’ll sit tight.
