Gnarls Barkley Keeps “Going On” With New Video

After their trippy dance party video for “Run” got banned for not passing the Harding seizure test, Gnarls Barkley’s new album The Odd Couple didn’t get as much commercial shine as it should have. So it’s probably good that the video for their new single “Going On” keeps the mind-bending psychedelic visuals to a minimum. The story follows a group of kids celebrating on their way to a mystical door that leads to another dimension. What lies beyond the door is an unknown unknown, but we’re guessing it’ll probably give you seizures too. Watch the video after the jump.

The Gnarls Barkley video for their new single “Run” failed the Harding Test which are ” guidelines established to prevent TV images from triggering epileptic seizures,” citing the intense strobe effects. We’ve got the potential seizure inducing video after the jump.

We’re feeling this remix of “Gone Daddy Gone” by Gnarls Barkley. The video is about as weird as it gets and these boys continue to live up to their completely off the wall avant garde-ness. It’s the perfect treat for a Halloween afternoon.

We’re a little young to remember the days of cheesy hair bands and rocking with your cock out, thankfully. Last night we had a blast from the past when Gnarls Barkley turned out NYC’s Webster Hall with a ground-shaking performance when Cee-Lo and Danger Mouse’s gimmicky mash-up project took on a new life as the band’s alias, Brushfire. Clad in spandex, rainbow colored wigs, and cowboy boots, the always eccentric but talented Cee-Lo captivated the sold-out crowd for a crazy performance that has water coolers buzzing today (along with celebrity appearances by Diddy, T.I., and fellow Goodie Mob member Big Gipp). Though Cee-Lo’s theatrics may have eclipsed his soul machine, we couldn’t help but bear the sight of him whipping out a water bottle from his gold spandex pants and laugh at his corny, dirty jokes. But before Cee-Lo’s hijinks ensued, Spankrock treated the crowd of hipsters to their grimey Baltimore bass sound. After getting a lukewarm response from the crowd from more headphone worthy songs like “Backyard Betty,” they were accompanied by a background dancer faceoff which resulted in the “bigger” girl winning over the crowd when Ms. Fat Booty dropped it like it’s hot. The more cushion for the pushin’. Cee-Lo would know.

Sprawled out New Yorkers turned Webster Hall into Woodstock as they awaited Gnarls Barkley’s performance. Luckily there were no mudpiles.

Spankrock in the spotlight.

The marquee read Gnarls Barkley, not Charles Barkley. It’s OK, the 34 is still a nice reference to Sir Charles, err Gnarls.

Cee-Lo and Danger Mouse aka Gnarls Barkley take the stage under the moniker, Brushfire. We think Cee-Lo’s fire- orange wig inspired it.

Danger Mouse’s ‘fro goes gangreen.

The hair-brained band was complete with a four-piece string quartet.
