With nearly 25 years of experience as a game designer and a shelf full of classic titles'including Railroad Tycoon, Pirates!, and the Civilization series'Sid Meier has thoroughly earned his title as the “Father of Computer Gaming”. For those of you more familiar with sports than strategy games, know this: Sid Meier is the Madden of his genre'if Sid's name is on it, you know it's worth playing.
Complex caught up with the video game editor of this online Horror powerhouse to find out what he's playing.

Anybody who enjoys seeing innocent people tortured and killed'ahem, in movies, that is'should be up on Bloody-Disgusting.com, the online hub for all things horror. The site just announced that it’s partnered with Hollywood production company Platinum Dunes (whose partners include Michael-Fucking-Bay) to launch the official PD website within Bloody-Disgusting. The hosted site will feature exclusive content on Platinum Dunes projects, including the upcoming remake of Friday the 13th. Sigh.

Anyway, we caught up with TJ Taraszka, the Video Game Editor in Chief of Bloody-Disgusting.com for our Game Recognize Game column, where we get inside the minds of famous gamers. After the jump, TJ reveals all his favorites.

(1) My favorite time to play video games is…
Usually at night, after everything I’ve had to do for the day is finished. I can sit back and relax and play without being bothered.

(2) Current favorite game:
I’ve been playing Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core on the PSP a lot, but I ALWAYS go back to Halo 3 to play on Xbox Live. So Halo 3 is still my favorite.

(3) Favorite genre:
I’d definitely have to say RPGs. My friend Ryan and I used to play Final Fantasy II for Super Nintendo together, because you could both have a controller and control whichever characters you wanted during a battle. I’ve never looked back, and have spent a huge chunk of my life playing the Final Fantasy series.

(4) Favorite current console:
This is a brutal question because they are all awesome. 360 is probably my favorite right now, but I see PS3 bumping it out of place when Little Big Planet, Metal Gear, and Home come out. I’m way too excited for Home.

(5) Favorite handheld:
The Nintendo DS rules because you can use the built-in wireless to play with a bunch of your friends. And for a ton of games you don’t even all need to have the game. One person can have the game, and the others can play it on their DS also, and I love that. We’ve spent countless hours playing Mario Kart.

(6) My earliest video game memory:
My parents bought an original Nintendo when I was about 2. By the time I was 3 I was better than my mom at Super Mario Bros.

(7) First console:
Well, my parents bought the Nintendo, I bought the Super Nintendo, and Final Fantasy III was epically amazing compared to any games that had come out around that time.

(8) First game I beat:
Definitely Mario for original Nintendo.

(9) Best coin-op:
I haven’t played them in a long long time, but The Simpsons game, and X-Men, where you can have four people playing at once. Classics.

(10) Hardest game ever:
Final Fantasy 1. I played many of the newer ones before back tracking to the 1st. It was so hard, especially as a young kid. I gave up and to this day I have not beaten it. Maybe someday.

(11) I can't lose in…
I used to be unstoppable at any Tony Hawk game. I used to be unbeatable in Halo 2, when I didn’t have a job for seven months and I played the game for 11 hours at a time. My family would go to sleep, I would be playing, they would get up for work, and my sisters would go to school, and I would still be playing. Good times. I don’t have any games I am better than everyone at anymore, maybe I should quit my job…

(12) Favorite game all-time:
Final Fantasy VII. The most amazing game of all time. The most wonderful story, cast of characters, weapons, monsters, side quests, and the magic system is unbeatable. The only thing I would change would be the graphics. That’s why I’m wishing and wishing and wishing they will remake Final Fantasy VII for Playstation 3.

(13) Most looking forward to…
Silent Hill 5 and Resident Evil 5. I am so pumped for these games, I’m a huge fan of both series. Resident Evil 2 got me into horror games, and I’ve been playing ever since.

(14) If I were to design my own game, it would be…
A first person survival horror game. Kind of like Left 4 Dead. It would have to be as fluid feeling as Halo though. And have an amazing online multiplayer. If Left 4 Dead does it correctly, then my ideas are worthless! So cheers to them for doing it, so I don’t have to.
