Tackle An Ogre In The Blood Bowl

bloodbowl_lead.jpg
Sure, we enjoy the realism and life-like graphics of today’s sports games, but sometimes you’ve got to think outside the boundaries. For a fresh take on the football genre, Blood Bowl lets you play a bone-crushing version of the game with ogres, elves, orcs, dragons and a slew of other fantastic characters.

Set in medieval times, Blood Bowl gives your teams the chance to battle it out—literally—in all different types of environments. It should be available on Xbox 360, PSP, and Nintendo DS late this year. Watch the new trailer after the jump.

Although the Madden Curse often leaves pro footballers on the injured list, past cover athletes like Daunte Culpepper, Marshall Faulk, Ray Lewis, Shaun Alexander and Vince Young were all smiles at Electronic Arts press conference-turned-party last night for Madden 09. Help Choose The New York Jets Cheerleaders

Jets Flight Crew Tryouts
Watching this past year’s intense Super Bowl, you couldn’t keep your eyes off the ball. But the Jets could change all of that now that they’ve casted their new string of cheerleaders. For the third and final round of tryouts held at yesterday at Ecko HQ, 52 contestants battled through a series of choreographed dance routines in front of the Jets staff, former Jets linebacker Greg Buttle and celebrity judge Marc Ecko for a chance to cheer on the team.

Having Complex bossman ME involved is a part of a partnership with the Jets where Ecko designed the new and improved outfits for the cheerleaders, who now preferred to be called “The Flight Crew” after the sexy aviator pin-up look of the ’60s. While 21 girls were handpicked after hours of deliberation, the 22nd will be decided by the fans at NewYorkJets.com. Before you get your vote on, check out a gallery of the girls at yesterday’s tryouts.

Herschel Walker Has Personalities To Spare

herschelwalker.jpgNFL nerds know that Herschel Walker helped jumpstart the Dallas Cowboys mid-’90s dynasty when he was traded for damn near half the Minnesota Vikings’ draft picks in 1989. It turns out maybe that trade wasn’t so one-sided after all. Today, Walker releases his memoir Breaking Free, where he talks about coping with multiple-personality disorder (politically correct terminology: “dissociative identity disorder”). Check a sample passage of Walker talking about the members of his “team”:

“I had a coachlike alter who would recognize what was going on…and he would point to one of the other alters on the bench…Not all of the alters knew of the existence of the others, but some did. For example, the Hero alter knew that the Consoler existed and was aware as well of the presence of the Fightened/Wounded alter. He didn’t much care for the weakness the Frightened/Wounded alter exhibited.”

After the jump, watch a video of a man struggling to live with D.I.D.:
