Rides Constructing The World’s Smallest Chevy 327 Engine

When the Chevy 327 engine was introduced in 1962, it was the most powerful natural aspirated, single cam, production small block V8 until it’s successor, the LS6 was born in 2001. So it’s easy to see why it still has more fans than ya boy Weezy. Motorhead Jim Moyer is one of them.

To show his appreciation to the celebrated motor that powered the ‘64 Corvette, he decided to build a miniature, 1/6th scale working model of it. And it actually works. Jim, who built his first tiny engine while serving in the Army in 1964, fabricated all the parts (head, block, pistons, crank, cam, etc.) himself. There’s an actual spark ignition, a pressurized oil system and a cooling system exactly like the ones found on the real 327 V8. Even though it sounds like a lawn mower, it’s still pretty damn dope.
