Before every other kid flick had CGI animation, the original Toy Story wowed shorties everywhere with its groundbreaking visual technology. 15 years and a lot of “practice” (i.e. more classic movies) later, Pixar is back with Toy Story 3, in Disney Digital 3-D no less. The story centers around Buzz Lightyear, Woody, and the rest of the crew’s new residence in a daycare center now that Andy is headed off to college. We don’t run out for every animated movie, but this one will definitely be seen, whether it’s with a young relative or other grown folks reliving their childhood. It doesn’t hit theaters until next summer, but we already know that those box office numbers are going to be a problem. Hopefully, the movie itself is too.

Sure, it’s old news by now, but Disney’s announced purchase of Marvel and all its characters has revved up the Internet’s creativity machine, with comic-book fans and Disney-loving pedophiles alike firing up the imaging software to imagine their favorite mashups. The thing is, no one’s as good at it as we are (suck it, Conan!) Besides, no one cares about Disney characters, and the House That Walt Built knows that it’s gonna need a lot more than Mickneto to get its movie mojo back. That’s why we went ahead and planned out Disney’s next few tentpole releases (ayo!), starring the only sure-fire moneymakers in Hollywood…
Stop the presses! Disney is going back to the basics and making a traditional (non-CGI) cartoon musical movie called The Princess and the Frog. And the big news is that, for the first time in Disney Animation Studio’s 72 year history, the princess is will be black! Awesome, right? We thought so, but it seems a lot of people are pissed off that they decided to make her Prince white.
Well, we can’t say we didn’t see this coming. Even with a half black/half white President, Hollywood is still Hollywood and some things just never change. It seems like the only way that a black actress can get cast in a major mainstream role is if their leading man is white. Don’t believe us? Take a look back at some notable black woman x white man collabos on the big screen…
Jeremy Scott’s fall Ready to Wear collection images hit the ‘net over the weekend, featuring a variety of Mickey Mouse-inspired pieces. Since it’s high fashion, and since this dude kind of does whatever he wants, we’re guessing JS didn’t go ahead and officially collaborate with the entertainment house (the adidas are probably going to be a problem with infringement).
Disney does love getting the brand out there, though, and maybe Mr. Scott should have hit them up. There are a lot of other brands who’ve collaborated with the mega-brand in the recent past, and this nod would have gotten the guys excited. Enough to take Walt’s head out of the freezer and show him? Probably not, but you never know. Click through for a rundown on Disney’s greatest recent attempts at being relevant to people over ten…
That said, you wouldn’t hit that? Granted, if you don’t like your milkshakes thick, Raven might not be up your alley. But she’s attractive, has a pretty smile, and like most top and hip-heavy women, she damn sure has a lot of love to offer. So, when you flip through the album sleeve of her self-titled album next week, think again before you write off the last of America’s sweethearts.
