“I had a couple of shows around the country, and I turned it into a road trip of sorts. All the nature and intense color from the California coast and out into Montana is just so incredible and so amazing and played a key role in the inspiration for this show. I’ve wanted to do an installation like this for a long time, and creating this is a big part of keeping myself entertained.

“The whole show is made out of collaged wood block prints. So what I do is cut several blocks and do the prints, and then use the prints as collage elements. In a sense, it’s like drawing, drawing with collage tools. The central character is Pan, which is where the title of the show, ‘The Old Horned Deity,’ comes from. He was known to inspire panic in some, and for making others completely awestruck by his power. That’s what I wanted to create, that awestruck feel of nature, and that feel that I got from being out around the country.”
