The hype for Dead Space (EA: 360, PS3, PC), has been real since we showed you the trailers back in July, and now that you've probably already copped the gore-heavy game, we're going to give you a chance to really get in the game by winning this replica Isaac Clarke helmet.

To us, the helmet is more of a collector's item than battle headpiece, but if you're into the whole acting out video games thing, we're not going to hate. Some other sites are requesting you basically chop one nut off to win the helmet, but you can score one for free by being the first one to answer the trivia question below…

Video Games Dead Space’s Gratuitous Violence Gets Animated

deadspaceedit_main.jpg
We have fond memories of massive, bong-fueled Resident Evil sessions (with the lights off, of course), so we’ve got high hopes for the upcoming space-horror game Dead Space (EA: 360, PS3, PC), in which a bunch of angry aliens take over an interstellar mining ship. From all accounts, the title promises to be a banger, combining the suspenseful elements of the Alien trilogy with loads more gratuitous, violent, bloody gore. And boy, do we love gratuitous, violent, bloody gore.

The game drops on October 20 (just in time for Halloween), and a straight-to-DVD animated flick called Dead Space: Downfall that explains the back story will also be in stores. The cartoon looks cool enough, but we bet a dime to a dollar that plans for a live-action adaptation movie are already in the works. Watch the gory trailers for both the Dead Space film and game below…

deadspace1.jpg

Today, Electronic Arts announced that it’s new sci-fi survival horror game, Dead Space, will be released on… wait for it… October 31st of this year'just in time to scare the shit out of the kids and parlay some of that Halloween horror for its own benefit. It will be readied for both the Playstation3 and the Xbox 360 with a PC version to eventually rear its ugly head. If you’ve never heard of it, Dead Space is a third-person action thriller set in deep space:

Set in the far future, Earth's appetite for natural resources has become a major motivator for deep space exploration. Immense, privately-owned and operated mining ships called “planetcrackers” orbit planets and use sophisticated equipment to carve out entire city-sized chunks of rock, reducing them to component elements and raw ore. When communications go dead onboard the USG Ishimura, a famous planetcracker, systems engineer Isaac Clarke is sent in to fix the problem. Once onboard the vessel, Isaac discovers that the crew has unearthed an ancient and malevolent alien presence far beneath the planet's surface and brought it onboard. Weaponless, alone and terrified, this lone engineer is burdened with much more than simple survival'he must seal the alien horror back into the dark rock.
