Oh you’re off all-black everything? Not us. We’re sure you cycle through Chuck Taylor’s a lot, especially when it’s warmer out, but maybe save these black-on-blacks for when you’re trying to be the “dude with the really cool Chucks.” They’ll hit US stores in a few weeks, but if you want them early cop ‘em at trusted e-retailer CaliRoots now for $99.

The footwear game is a cluttered place, and the abundance of similar silhouettes leaves us with the question: “Who did it better?” each week. So far, you’ve voted on the Yeezys vs. the Ex-O-Fits, the Valenzuela vs. the CTS, the Turinos vs. the Honjas, the Propulsion II vs. the TK Societys, and the Curb vs. the Champion.
The Converse’s Poorman’s Weapon was made popular last year by UNDFTD (it even ranked #8 on our top 10 of 2009) but with pictures of a Bodega make-up hitting the net late last week, it seems more stores are trying their hand at design on the silo. While UNDFTD kept it simple, the Bostonians added an extra flap to their sneaker. Better than the original, or is Undefeated still without an L? Check the pictures and then cast your vote below.

Converse will be celebrating the Chinese New Year for the next 12 months by rolling out its Year of the Tiger Collection. This Chuck Taylor, that’s limited to 1,800 pairs and released exclusively in China features tiger striped leather, and premium leather is available now at Converse stores in China. Too crazy? Maybe. For its latest collaboration, Converse went the Cobain route with NY-based boutique Jean Shop on three different colorways of the One Star 74. The sneaker that first debuted in 1974 comes back in all its grungy glory, and will release already distressed and dirty. Over the last several years, it’d be fair to say that Converse has been the most conscious footwear brand about the fight against HIV and AIDS. Today, on World AIDS Day, the brand takes it’s (PRODUCT) RED initiative even further releasing these Leather Jacket Chuck Taylor All Stars for a good cause. Patched together using motorcycle jacket-inspired leather, the limited edition sneakers will hit (RED) retailers in NYC, San Francisco and London, as well as www.converse.com. The shoes cost $200, and ten percent of the wholesale price of the sneakers will benefit The Global Fund that helps to eliminate AIDS in Africa. Making a difference never looked this good.

Jordan has the Spiz’ike Boot, Converse has the Chuck Taylor boot. And we can’t front, the face lift on the 1971 silhouette came out pretty good. Although this brown colorway is our favorite, Converse cranked out a whole collection with multiple color options. To browse them all, and take your pick, click HERE.

We can’t remember the last time a Converse collaboration with a store let us down. In the past several months we’ve seen dope make-ups with Huf and Undefeated, and now the brand keeps the consistency going with their latest mash-up with California based store Blends.
This One Star that’s part of Converse’s ongoing 1HUND(RED) Artists program will launch at special events at each store from 7pm – 10pm at Blends in San Diego on Thursday October 22, Blends in Costa Mesa Friday October 23rd and Blends in Downtown Los Angeles on October 24th. Oh, and if you’re not in the Blends area, it will also be available at select retailers after October 24.

Yesterday we showed you this purple/yellow colorway of Converse’s new basketball sneaker the Weapon EVO, now check out the make-up Larry Bird would be wearing if he was still playing ball. If you rock with Celtics, or are just a fan of the black/green scheme, cop the sneakers HERE for $90.

This fall, Converse re-vamps the classic Weapon silo into a more technically-sound sneaker, aptly titled the “Weapon EVO.” Originally released in 1986, the Weapon was worn by b-ball legends Magic Johnson and Larry Bird. Expect this upgrade to the O.G to be a bit more comfortable than the one Magic and Larry wore. This Lakers-friendly colorup is now available on the Converse site for $90. Get it HERE, then stay tuned for Larry’s colorup tomorrow.

You’re probably use to seeing the Jack Purcell as a low-top, but Converse went ahead and switched the style up for this “Racearound” model. The mid-top takes the DNA of a Jack Purcell and adds quality materials like tumbled leather and suede. After being previewed on the blogs months ago, these just became available at legit e-shop Caliroots. Cop them HERE for $188.
