At the start of the year, she was named one of Entertainment Weekly’s “Top 5 Artists to Watch in 2009,” but it’s already September—c’mon SRC/Universal Motown! Where’s Melanie Fiona’s album? The Guyanese honey from the T.Dot had a couple of sleeper hits last summer (”Give It To Me Right” and “Bang, Bang”), and was previously the opening act on the Euro leg of Kanye West’s Glow In The Dark tour. Clearly, the girl got talent.
So even though The Bridge—her debut album that was supposed to drop today—is going nowhere for the moment, we still got love for Miss Fiona. Which is why we’re happy to present our interview with the singer, who not only talked about her favorite rap album and childhood crush, but also gave us an impromptu acapella of her first single. Unfortunately, we can’t show you that amazing performance, but read on for our Complex 7 with Melanie…

STORE: Uncle Otis
CITY: Toronto, Canada
SINCE: 1991
FOUNDED BY: Roger O’Donnell, the keyboardist from The Cure, now Donnell Enns is the current owner.
PRICES: $$$ (out of 5)
WHY WE COSIGN: Nowadays, it’s rare to find a store that is able keep a well balanced selection of fashion forward brands and streetwear apparel. Most stores either reach for the stars with looks straight off the runway or stay in the streets with brands only mentioned on blogs. Not Toronto’s own Uncle Otis. What may sound like a southern eatery is actually a store founded by the keyboardist from The Cure, Roger O’Donnell. Keeping their style to a minimum and never too over the top, Uncle Otis stays ensures their customers stay fresh by cultivating a selection of understated, luxury style. “We’re obsessed with details,” says new owner, Donnell Enns. “[As well as] fabric, fit, construction and a one-of-a-kind selection.” Sounds like the perfect balance to us.
BRANDS CARRIED: Surface to Air, Levi’s and Levi’s Capital E, Naked and Famous, Filippa K, YMC, Stüssy Deluxe, Mosley Tribes, Rokin, Red Wing, Canada Goose Japan, and more..

By now you know that everything street-fashion in Canada runs through Matt George. That's why when we really took some time to look into Nomad'a sick boutique in Toronto'we weren't surprised to see George's name on the lease.
Besides George, his partners Zeb Munir and Jesar Gabino laid the foundation in 2005 to bring top-notch menswear and elevate shopping experiences in Canada. The shop stocks quality garments from brands like Comme des Garcons (Kanye's favorite!), Obedient Sons, APC, Nom De Guerre, and Surface 2 Air. Besides their well-edited section of clothing; grooming products, footwear, accessories and even luggage rounds out the complete Canadian outpost. Next time you're traveling up North, make sure you pop in and tell 'em we sent ya. Check some interior shots below…

A good store is as strong as the brands it carries. Still, not every retailer is lucky enough to offer a wide variety of top names when they first start out. That is, unless your rep is like Rob Lo, co-owner of Vancouver’s one-stop shop Roden Gray.
As the former manager and buyer for Bruce and Richard Kidd, Lo was responsible for stocking labels like Ksubi, YMC, and even Supreme. After Richard Kidd closed their doors in 2007, Rob and his partner David Fernandez continued the legacy by taking that same fine brand selection to Roden Gray.
Inside the gray walled interor, RG has something for everyone. This fall, the fashion-forward boutique will carry a mix of American, Japanese, and European imported styles. Comme des Garcons Play, Wings + Horns, Swear footwear, and vintage watches by Rolex, Omega, and Panerai will be amongst the bevvy of quality products. See more photos of RG after the jump.

Outside of Kardinal Offishall, we’ve never cosigned too much talent from north of the border. But after jazzy pop singer Kreesha Turner recently paid a visit to the Complex office, we can’t front'Canada is looking pretty damn good.
Kreesha'a warm Alberta native with Jamaican roots and a million dollar smile'broke through in the U.S. earlier this year with her single “Bounce With Me,” which was featured on shows like Entourage and Gossip Girl.
