Events Win Tickets To See Cambodia’s Tiny Toones Breakdance Crew

This afternoon in Ecko HQ, the Complex crew was treated to a special performance by the Tiny Toones, a breakdancing crew all the way from Cambodia. Not only was their routine sick, mixing traditional Cambodian dance with classic American b-boy style, but the crew stands for a good cause.

Since 2004, the group’s founder—a Cambodian-American b-boy from California named K.K.—has been helping underprivileged kids stay off the street by teaching them the art of breakdancing (read more about their story in this recent New York Times article). The crew is in NYC for a special performance/fundraiser on Friday night, which features DJ sets by Chris Robinson and DJ Ings, along with appearances from MC Tame One of the Artifacts and Cambodian MC Kadep. It costs $50 to get in, but we’re giving away a pair of tickets for free. Read on to see more details and find out how to win…

Music R.I.P. Breakdancing Legend Frosty Freeze

frostyfreeze.jpgLast night, we lost one of the best know b-boys of all time when Wayne “Frosty Freeze” Frost passed away at the age of 44 at NYC’s Mount Sinai Medical Center. As a pioneering member of the original Rock Steady Crew, Freeze is credited with inventing the popular “suicide” move and introducing breaking to the masses through his appearances in Flashdance, Wild Style, Beat Street and Style Wars. Remember the O.G. after the jump with his appearance in Flashdance and a recent video interview.
