Music critics can debate forever about who invented rock n’ roll, or who the greatest guitar player is, but one thing’s for certain like Joseph Stalin behind the Iron Curtain: without Les Paul, this rock shit definitely never would be going on.

Yesterday Paul passed away at the age of 94, and while he wasn’t really a rock dude himself, the guitar he helped create (appropriately named the Les Paul) spawned the sound of heavy metal and punk, and was the go-to axe for countless other musicians. Music B Is For Bob: How Bob Marley Got Censored For Kids

A new album called B Is For Bob hits stores today, described as a “collection of original Bob Marley songs re-imagined for kids and fans of all ages!” Re-imagined? To us, the legend’s music is already family-friendly, except for maybe the references to greenery (which really, never hurt anyone).

For the PG-version, executive producer/son Ziggy Marley had to re-record certain tracks for the kiddies. He avoided including any weed-related songs altogether, but there were still a few lines that had to be changed or omitted to be parent-approved. Movies Scorsese To Further Immortalize Bob Marley

bob_marley.jpgOne of our favorite directors on the planet, Martin Scorsese, who’s made more high quality violent movies than we care to list, is jamming with a new documentary in the works about international reggae superstar-legend Bob Marley. It’s got the full support of Marley’s fam and is set for release a long time from now: “Feb. 6, 2010, on what would have been Marley’s 65th birthday.” Marley son Ziggy had this to say about the legendary director, “I am thrilled that the Marley family will finally have the opportunity to document our father’s legacy and are truly honored to have Mr. Scorsese guide the journey.” Us too.
