Rogan Gregory gets cooler with every move he makes. The eco-friendly designer that built the Rogan fashion house also launched organic clothing lines Loomstate and Edun, a collaboration with Bono and wife, Ali Hewson. Recently, he made another major move by opening his second store in New York’s Lower East Side. The new location, which carries all the previously mentioned chic brands, is located in an actual NY landmark—the Bouwerie Lane Theatre—which was constructed in 1874. Grab a quick look at the shop’s interior after the jump.

A summer wardrobe just isn’t complete without crispy clean sneakers. In case you’ve been outside the bubble, white-on-white Air Force 1’s aren’t the season’s standard look—kicks are now open to all bright colors, as long as they’re unscuffed. But matching the rest of your outfit accordingly takes a little work, especially when you’ve got on some sneakers of the gaudy, eye-catching variety.
This week’s Street Detail subject keeps it mellow yellow with the premium sneaker brand Raf Simons, then adds some subtle detail with his yellow camo Nixon watch. See the full style breakdown after the jump.

We all know that clothes make the man. But when you’re Riddim Driven, the clothing line birthed by VP Records—the world’s largest reggae distributor—the music is the tailor. Over fifty years ago, the brand started by VP’s Patricia Chin was simply a line of T-shirts inspired by a monthly compilation series. That promo-tee style has come a long way, evolving into a full-fleged cut-and-sew line, drawing inspiration from the vibrant energy of the dancehall scene, plus a few design flares like the Herb Lubalin type-face for their signature “Roots, Rock, Reggae” tee. This fall, Riddim Driven’s new looks date back to the foundation of ska music and a rugged aviation style. See some samples after the jump.

The fashion world just can’t find a happy medium with pants. The tough choice of baggy, fitted, or tight is getting tougher with ankle-length trousers becoming more popular. Take a look around—down to be exact—most of the fancy boys showing off their exposed ankles are prancing around your city, not just the runway.
This new formal look is best put together with suit jackets, a pair of pointy leather shoes with no socks on. Sounds pretty absurd if you ask us, what with the potential of sweating out your best (and probably only pair) of hard-bottoms you save for weddings and funerals. But at least your naked aknles are prepared in case SoHo is ground zero for another Katrina. Will you be preparing for the flood with cropped trousers this season? “HUMP” or “DUMP” this budding trend after the jump.

Alife’s modest approach to cool streetwear and sneakers has brought them pretty far since operating out of NYC’s Lower East Side store front for over a decade. Try three more stores: Vancouver in 2005, Los Angeles in 2007, and now the brand new Tokyo flagship, all with their own unique design concepts. The latest Tokyo store follows the aesthetic with a quote that greets customers, “Lead, follow or get the hell out of the way.” Once inside, a giant tank with a collection of their signature RTFT and ARC shoes are on display. The terms you should know to be a true denimhead.
SELVAGE: Originally called “self-edge,” it is woven on antique shuttle looms, and is recognizable by the inside seam having a white edge that prevents it from unraveling.
LEFTHAND TWILL: Used by Japanese high-end brands, it’s softer than the more common righthand woven denim.
RISE: The length of fabric from the crotch seam to the top of the waistband.
RIVETS: The metal tabs that are placed at the stress points to prevent tearing, most commonly on pockets.
WHISKERING: A fading of the ridges and creases in the hip, crotch, and knees that gives the appearance of aged denim.

Nothing says “Big Pimpin’” better than a pair of boat shoes. Instead of jacking Jay-Z’s mandal style, your best bet during the summer months is a pair of Top-Siders. They’re lighter than sneakers, and have a look that straddles the line between casual and fancy. See how this week’s West Coast “Street Detail” rep rocks his after the jump.

There’s nothing worse than working the room all night with your jeans’ fly unknowingly open. Luckily, this brainless (yet genius) invention—dubbed the “Zip Holder” by creator Lisa Sjovall—will put the “is it cold in here?” jokes to rest, and will keep your man-sack from showing at inappropriate times. The elastic loop attaches to the pull tag on your zipper and then is looped around your jeans button, keeping you from busting out of your nut-hugging denim. Look for the hookup to be marketed at the usual “As Seen On TV” outlets very soon.

Looks can be decieving with the wrong pair of shades on. That’s why Salt Optics is dedicated to giving consumers quality specs, and not just a flashy frame at a ridiculous price. Since launching in 2006, the So Cal company has hung its hat on it’s prism-free technology, which basically means, your eyes will stay healthy without that numbing distorted effect after a long period with them on (even at night). Check out the new styles from their spring/summer line after the jump.
