Over in SoHo, NYC you might notice a small cotton field. In case you’re questioning what era we’re currently in, yes it’s 2008, and no this is not some weird demonstration by those Truth renegades to get you to stop smoking. The plush spectacle is actually a part of a new marketing campaign by Supima (the folks behind US Pima), educating consumers on the source of one of the world’s most integral textiles.

What would you do if you won a heated online auction for a pair of Nike Heineken Dunk SBs, paid out your cash, and they just didn’t show up? Even worse, what if the auctioneer did send them and they wound up being cheap knock-offs? You just lost a small fortune to the web’s covert bootleg distributors. Like most people, you probably would fire off a limp complaint to eBay and take the L. But if you are like Gary Hughes, who created the nationwide sneaker swap tour dunkxchange, you would help fellow sneakerheads who share your plight.
After getting taken by multiple fake auctions, Hughes devised his signature event where sneaker fanatics can buy, sell, and trade new and vintage merchandise safely and under legitimate circumstances. Naming the event dunkxchange was important because it forever reminds sneakerheads of the dangers of Internet auctions. It wasn’t long until Hughes partnered up with fellow Los Angeles County resident Curtis Brown, owner of sneaker and apparel shop Soleger, and the rest is sneakerfiend history. We caught up with Curtis to give a little insight on his creation. Check the interview and more pics after the jump.

There may just be evidence for God’s existence after all. Yellow Rat Bastard, the long held bastion of horrificly cheesy graphic tees and rave gear brand “Caffeine” in NYC, will soon be dislodged from its downtown Broadway location in favor of TopShop, a clothing store chain from the UK that’s recently reinvented itself as a sort of high end H&M. According to AM New York, TopShop has been scouting a location for a flagship store in Manhattan, and after passing on the Yellow Rat location several times, have decided this might be the best they’re gonna get. We just hope they pay their workers livable wages and get rid of that nasty rat infestation that’s historically plagued the location. And now that the store is going, we can only pray that their equally nasueating magazine is next.

Earnest Sewn/Canada Goose Chilliwack Parka
For the last fifty years Canada Goose has cranked out expedition-level gear, including the parkas keeping every scientist based at Antarctica’s McMurdo Station alive when they go for a stroll. Now they’re adding a little more style to the survival game, collaborating with Earnest Sewn on two limited-edition parkas. Both the Earnest Sewn/Canada Goose Chilliwack and Expedition parkas feature duck down insulation underneath a waxed cotton exterior that’ll age a lot better than your girlfriend.

We ain’t the only ones opening up shop. Our favorite former vandal turned fashionista, CLAW, is setting up a pop-up shop within downtown cool girl boutique I Heart to celebrate the release of her specially designed Nike Vandal sneaker. In addition to the kicks, offerings will include a new sweatshirt and tee that echoes her Vandal’s peacock design, plus a mega assortment of classic CLAW goods all under one roof: think totes, tees, hoodies for guys and gals, pillows, shades and jewelry. So be on the lookout, it’s only open for a limited time from October 26 to November 16.
