While scrolling around the internets this morning looking for Hip Hop related stories for our morning ‘Rap Sheet,’ we came across this article in the NY Daily News: “Hip hop-ocrites trash the ‘hood, Rev. Al sez.” The article goes on to detail the ensuing battles between the controversial civil rights activist and Hip Hop moguls. But that’s not what caught our eye. It was the fact that this article was filed in the ‘Crime File‘ section of the news that didn’t make sense. Since the whole Imus flap there’s been a concentrated vilification of Hip Hop in the media so maybe the ‘News’ figured it would just work nicely between the Seton Hall tragedy and the Virgina Tech’s killer video story.

Even back in the day when we used to tune into Howard Stern on K-Rock, there was really nothing more entertaining than listening to him rip on Imus. So it’s kind of nostalgic to hear the King of All Media take some modern day swipes at Imus’ recent stupidity:
Head over here to see more of what Howard had to say.

Deeming their audience too white and probably not all that rhythmic, The Consumerist passed on this hot new MP3 one of their readers extracted off a Virginia radio station. Although at first it might sound like a new Lil’ Scrappy track, the swish of a vacuum quickly starts sucking away the Dirty South-like lyrics and a lily white voice-over cheerfully states:
“Life may never be clean, but with Hoover your floors can be.”
So basically a vacuum company is now coming to the rescue to clean up Hip Hop, because you know, it’s so muddy and filthy, and what better way to sell vacuum cleaners then equate it with the grimy residue of rap music.

Here’s a shocker, celebrities do stupid shit all the time and act like complete idiots. They are often either inebriated or just plain crazy, or usually a mix of the both, and thankfully, in today’s age, there is always someone ready to document their bizarre behavior and bring it to light for us all to revel in. Whether it be drunken Anti-Semetic rants or hate fueled racist tirades, celebrities often publicly humiliate themselves and then, per usual, through the urging of their publicists, begin their onslaught of public apologies for being such assholes. It’s hard to follow all the madness, so we appreciate the Double Viking crew’s Celebrity Apology Chart that tries to make sense of it all.

Comedian Andy Dick issued an apology through his publicist for using the “N” word recently at a comedy club event. He was heckling comedian Ian Bagg and then joined him on stage and tried to make a joke about Kramer’s now world-renowned racist rampage at the Laugh Factory, and used the “N” word in an attempt to be funny and instead sounded just as stupid, although not as angry, as Kramer. The crowd did not find it funny and even Bagg was stuck trying to dig for laughs from the crowd after the openly gay-loving Dick left the stage.
There is some degree of cultural ownership of the “N” word and there is no reason black comedians are gonna stop using it as demonstrated by Damon Wayans the other night. The comedian opened his act at the Laugh Factory the other night, telling the crowd, “Give yourselves a big round of applause for coming down and supporting ‘Nigger Night,’” to a throng of laughter and smiles. However, ever since Kramer’s rant, the club has instituted an all out ban on the “N” word and promised fines for any comedian using it. So Wayans was hit with $320 in penalties for using the now prohibited word over 15 times. He was also banned from performing at the club for 3 months as part of the new rules.
Let us throw it back to the readers, do you think Damon Wayans should have been fined and banned or should comedians be allowed to say what they want?

Hip Hop might be dead, but Nas will make sure the memory of Sean Bell lives on. In case you hadn’t heard by now, the NYPD is under fire for its volley of more than 50 shots at 3 unarmed men in a parking lot in Jamaica, Queens. The men were leaving a strip club, and father of two and soon to be married Sean Bell was killed on the spot from the barrage of bullets. Although police claim there was a fourth suspect who was purported to be wearing a beige coat, new evidence suggests otherwise.
Nas, a Queens native, is appalled by the incident and the increasing gangsterism shown by cops. He commented specifically on the officer who emptied two clips and reloaded:
“If he was a man, he would be brave enough to face the charges as a man. …This brutality bullshit is played out with that slave shit. It has to end now. The cops need to be charged the way gangsters are charged.”

There are many reasons that we TOTALLY hate big-headed, unfair and unbalanced, right wing talking head Bill O’Reilly and all it took was this video of him discussing the recent arrest of Snoop Dog to remind us what an asshole he really is. Luckily, for Snoop, they had his former defense attorney, Lauren Lake, defending him against Bill’s doctoring of facts and usual dose of spinning . Here’s some of the crap that spews from his mouth:
-He compares Snoop to Al Capone.
-Bill talks about how he was convicted of selling crack back in High School and actually claims that Snoop is a now a drug dealer.
-He blurts out how Snoop “…likes to carry around guns that kill people.”
-Then he discusses how Snoop should go to prison and he barks out “I’ll build a new one just for him, shaped like a doghouse.”
All this coming from a guy who settled a sexual harassment suit so he wouldn’t face prosecution.
