Hennessy might easily be one of the most iconic liquors of our time: Nearly everybody (who’s old and responsible enough, of course) drinks the stuff in some way. Recently, Ron Artest was quoted as saying that he used to have a sip or two during halftime while he was playing for the Bulls. Talk about being a spirited player!
For those who don’t know, John Hennessy started making the cognac in France back in 1765 with deliveries to the United States beginning 29 years later, and musicians, actors, and even political leaders have been sippin’ it ever since. In 1971, Hennessy merged with Moet & Chandon, then subsequently merged with Louis Vuitton to become LVMH (basically everything hip-hop spends their dough on in one group). Let us take a look at how pop culture has respected their conglomerate…

Patron in the Club, Patron on ice, Patron and Pineapple, Patron and Ginger, Patron and anything. To be honest, we love the stuff. But before the summer winds down, we figured it might be a good idea to see what else was out there on the market in terms of silver tequilas.
Silver tequilas are unaged tequilas, the type you usually get when you order premium tequila without specifying. They are the brightest tasting, which means that they pack a real punch, and go well with mixed drinks and as shots. Good tequila doesn’t come cheap (average around $40 or more per bottle), but it’s up to you what type of hangover/night you want to have, and you should always try to stay with products that are 100% blue agave to make sure you’re on point. There’s a ton of silver tequilas out there, and a lot of really really good ones, so check our review of the best silver tequilas on the market, in our humble Complex (a.k.a. awesome and correct) opinion…

It’s Friday, and that means it is time to go outside and enjoy the summer sun. If you’re an American, you should be drinking Budweiser and… oh wait. Budweiser isn’t owned by an American company any longer. Ahh. Well Bud is great, but when it’s really hot, step to the Latin adult sodas. Our neighbors to the South know how to put ‘em down, and nothing beats their style of light lager. Hit the jump and check out our favorite Latin beers that you can get in the U.S. We’ll see you on Monday…

It’s hot out there folks, and nothing washes away the Friday work day like a nice cool drink. And by “drink,” we mean “awesome liquor w/ice in a glass.” One of the side effects of it being hot and sunny out though, is that the ice melts and waters down your cocktail. Luckily for you, the folks over at MoMa have created an XL spherical ice tray that makes giant ice cubes. Big ice cubes not only look cool, they melt more slowly so that your drink stays cool without turning into a watery mess. What’s your adult beverage of choice? Check out our poolside recommendation and the Buy It Now info below for these super ice cubes…

With St. Patrick’s Day coming up next week, we’re going to make a bold prediction: you will be drinking beer. Lots of it. So this year, instead of pounding a sixer of Pabst, perhaps you should try enjoying a pint like a civilized grown man.
Complex’s Lifestyle Editor Bradley Carbone recently took a trip to Dublin, Ireland, where he visited the Guinness Storehouse and St. James Gate Brewery. While touring the source of suds, he got a valuable lesson from one of Guinness’s brewmasters about the proper way to pour a pint. Watch the video below…

It doesn’t have a snappy Prince song like its older brother 1999, but 2009 is a special year in its own way, and as such deserves to be feted accordingly. Or more to the point: get really drunk tomorrow night.
Blotto, blitzed, tanked, sloshed, wasted, plastered, corn-holed (gotcha!); New Year’s Eve ain’t the night for restraint (click here for Complex’s guide to Champagne). Which means New Year’s Day is the morning for hangovers. But it doesn’t have to be all porcelain hugging and making promises to God you won’t keep. Read on for our list of 9 sure-fire cures for the first (and hopefully worst) hangover of 2009…

Like Halloween and prom night, New Year’s Eve nightclub parties are often highly anticipated but rarely live up to expectations. If you don’t believe us, there might still be some tickets to Mario Lopez’s party at Marquee. Let us know how that works out for you.
But if you’ve tried the “Premium Open Bar” trick before, then you know that the only way to spend New Year’s Eve is at a house party. If you’re invited to one, great. If not, go ahead and crash the one you hear going on upstairs. The only fee for entry is a bottle of the bubs. Below, we’ve created a handy little guide to the 3 perfect bottles of champagne for the 3 perfect parties. Happy New Year’s, homies!

Today’s stock tip: Buy Ernest & Julio Gallo Winery shares. Why go for jug wine stocks today, you ask? Well, Gallo makes Boone’s Farm wines, and with the news yesterday that the famed malternative (yes, it’s called that in the press release) beverage Zima was being discontinued, there’s suddenly a huge void in the liquor-drinks-for-young-girls market.
Okay, “huge void” may be overstating things just a tad; truth is, we didn’t even know they still made Zima these days. Still, Zima brings back lots of memories'hanging with young chicks, plying them with alcohol that tasted like soda and then…well, suffice it to say our memories are probably clearer than theirs (it was only last Friday, after all). In remembrance of the Z, we pour a little on the ground and rate the greatest chick drinks of all time below…

With Oktoberfest poppin’ off in Munich right now (yeah, we don’t know why it starts in September either), our thoughts turn to oat sodas a.k.a. grog a.k.a. beer. And just in time to sate our steins with the suds comes “The Beer Book
,” a 350-page plus guide to the best ales, lagers, porters and stouts from across the world.

Please enjoy responsibly (or not'we assume you aren’t operating heavy machinery while reading this), and check out a couple spreads from the book below…

This week in NYC, we headed down to La Esquina to build with Sammy Hagar about his tequila project Cabo Wabo. The ex-Van Halen frontman has been owner of the brand since 1996, and he hit up New York to conduct taste-tests in the heart of margarita weather.
Although Hagar’s involvement with the spirit may have been a bit under-the-radar, Cabo Wabo has been rivaling Patron and other ultra-premiums for more than a decade. When you order this afternoon’s round of “Thank Gods,” consider showing the dude some love (he’s on his grizzy!) and give CW a try. After the jump, watch a video of Sammy breaking down the history of tequila and showing off his arm tattoo.

We’re Budweiser fans over here at Complex, so much so that even the guys who secretly prefer Zima still claim it as their go-to in order to avoid being labeled terrorist-lovers. Our friendly Anheuser Busch reps invited us to come test out the new Budweiser American Ale last night, a beer coming out in October that is designed to be more flavorful and more full-bodied than the O.G. While we were expecting a flavor profile hinting of Sierra Nevada hippie crap, we were pleasantly surprised by its drinkability. Budweiser American Ale hits stands on October 6th, so while you’re waiting check the jump for some photos from our blind taste test.

It's officially short-skirt weather in NYC, and ladies looking to keep their figures in check, should look to “Skinny Water.” The Gatorade-esque drink seems like the perfect alternative to other played out diet methods like Bulimia and Anorexia (so 2007!). The magical water contains O calories, no sugar and is filled with vitamins and hunger-detoxing ingredients that'll help your arm candy combat unwanted cellulite and maintain a tight ass. It’s all about public perception, fellas.

Wine-drinking etiquette rule #1: do not pop the cork and immediately start chugging out the bottle. We know the urge is strong, but society’s pesky “rules” require that we use containers (sometimes called “glasses”) to drink wine out of. For those dire times when you need a splash of that white and there isn’t a stemless flute in sight, designer Viktor Pucsek has crafted an innovative wine bottle concept called Vinho Verde for the PapaMama Design Competition. The bottle’s label is actually two foldable paper cups that can be slid out and used in a pinch. See the magic for yourself after the jump.

Ever since we saw Basic Instinct, the sight of a beautiful woman wielding an icepick has struck fear (and arousal) into our hearts (and pants).
Hoping to capitalize on the hand-cracked ice trend (ice trays are for peasants), Belvedere Vodka has teamed with designer/Rolling Stones spawn Jade Jagger to create the “Jagger Ice Dagger.” This $250,000 piece, which is dipped in everything from white gold to diamonds to sapphires, is available at jiggy international retailers like Harrod’s in London. A $10,000 version will also be available for those of us less inclined to take out a third mortgage on the house.
