Barry Bonds Doesn’t Like Marc Ecko’s Pitch

balls.jpg
Barry Bonds isn’t happy that our boss bought his “record breaking” 756th home run ball and doesn’t sound like he’ll be heading over to vote756.com to help decide the ball’s fate anytime soon. Bonds even claimed how dumb he thinks the whole thing is:

“He’s stupid. He’s an idiot,” Bonds said, according to the newspaper. “He spent $750,000 on the ball and that’s what he’s doing with it? What he’s doing is stupid.”

We’re sorry you feel that way Barry, but as of today, at least 1,683,077 people would disagree and did care enough to vote. Marc Ecko blew off Bonds’ comments but did make a peace offering to the disgraced doped-up ball player and and even offered to design him a custom tee: “Marc Ecko paid $752,467 for my ball, and all I got was this ’stupid’ T-shirt.’”

MediaTakeOut Gets Order Wrong Again

bonita1.jpg
Elephant Man/Photo: Bonita Jamaica

Late last week MediaTakeOut “reported” that Dancehall superstar Elephant Man and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs came to blows over money. While this appeared to be another par for the course rumor of Diddy ripping off his artists (The L.O.X, Faith, Shyne), it turns out the gossip mongering website was up to it’s old tricks, even posting a fake photo of a bruised ‘Energy God’ on it’s homepage. So we contacted E-L-E-P-H-A-N-T and here’s his take:

“This alleged incident never took place. In fact, I have not been in the US since Labor Day. My relationship with Puffy and Bad Boy Records is solid. In addition, I have no dispute, of any kind, with Puffy or Bad Boy.”

Donations for the MediaTakeOut fact-attempting fund are now being accepted.

Wearing Saggy Trousers = Having Sex In Public

li_waynextra1-copy.jpgWith Complex headquartered well above the Mason-Dixon line, we wouldn’t exactly call ourselves experts on the culture of the South, sans Hip Hop, but one thing’s for sure, it’s a screwy place down there. Back a few months ago we told you about a parish city government in a backwater Louisiana town that was banning the wearing of “saggy trousers” in public. Well like a bad virus, the same idea has now spread to a much bigger municipality: the great city of Atlanta. Lead Uncle Tom councilman, C.T. Martin (his bio page), claims that the trend of wearing low slung trousers is an “epidemic.” With all the problems facing a bustling place like ATL, and the amount of exposure the Souther royalty of rap has brought to that city, who would have thought that politicians would even waste time trying to legislate a dress code. And to equate a fashion statement with public sex is outrageously disturbing:

The proposed ordinance states that “the indecent exposure of his or her undergarments” would be unlawful in a public place. It would go in the same portion of the city code that outlaws sex in public and the exposure or fondling of genitals.

Stay Fly

terry_kennedy.jpg
Becoming a rapper, there are a few things that come with the territory. Beef being one of them, skateboarder turned rapper Terry Kennedy, and the rest of the Ice Cream skate team threw some non-career-ending lyrical jabs at Lupe Fiasco last year. TK addressed the Lupe diss on the forthcoming Beef III DVD , and during a visit to Complex HQ. Look for the more peaceful Terry alongside former Lil Wayne protégé Curren$y, and newcomer HIT on the Fly Society album next year, plus the new Ice Cream skate DVD, and in Danny Way’s EA video game this fall.

Graffiti Artist GHOST Gets Slimed By Chinatown Vendors

480_lede_dsc01473.jpg
It’s not just luxury handbags and electronics that get knocked off down in Chinatown. We recently spotted these all-over-print t-shirts for girls that blatantly have graffiti artist GHOST’s signature artwork, literally, all over them. They’re straight rip-offs of his characters and we knew that he definitely didn’t give the OK. The shirts, by a company called Raw Blue, were selling for $10 a pop down on Canal street in NYC. Trying to get to the bottom of this, we emailed GHOST himself to hear what he thought. From what we read, sounds like they even send out Chinatown spies to art openings in Soho for inspiration, so artists beware. Check out some sketches of his original artwork interspersed with a short Q&A after the jump.

MTV Takes 50 Up On His Offer, Sucks His Lollypop

Last week we published an interview with 50-Cent and among the many colorful things he had to say, the one stick out phrase that set the interwebs on fire was “MTV can suck my dick,” when we asked him about their top 10 list of emcees (he was #8) they published on their site. Anyway, check out this interview and watch as MTV not only tries to save some face, but also gets themselves some trickle down media exposure.

Yung ZM Loses Freestyle Battle, Releases Written Diss Track

m_2dbb45d87bb75ae168785775f51dc5fe1-1.jpgIt was just yesterday that we posted a Q&A with Iron Solomon and his Svengali brethren, and today a commenter dropped us a link about a diss track created by Yung ZM, the rapper that Iron thoroughly slaughtered at Fight Klub just a few nights ago. Being that ZM got murdered live, he must have figured he’ll try his hand at written battle raps. Listen to it here.

Miss Info is Misinformed

Slide1ironjin.jpg
Although she tries her best to put her prejudices on the table, “I wasnt on judging duty, which was a relief because I do consider Jin a friend so I didnt want to be biased,” after reading her review, and listening to the Jin vs Iron Solomon battles, Miss Info’s got some bad info. First off, we’d hardly describe Iron Solomon has a “relative newcomer.” Not even Jin would agree, in his final verse (0:17) he raps about a battle from 6 years ago, “[R]emember, 01′ when I served you down at Wetlands.” So Iron’s basically been doing his thing just as long as Jin. But without getting into semantics, it seems she’s still unwilling to get down with the fact that her boy her lost. She even has to go so far as to enlist others to do her bidding, writing, “DJ Sickamore, who was also there, made a point that kinda illuminated my only reservation about the whole battle…He said “Jin lost, Solomon didnt win. In boxing, when some fighters lose for the 1st time, they get defensive and never win again. Thats what happened to Jin.” Sounds like Jin got juiced from over here. Iron’s rhymes were better, he had the crowd, and ultimately was judged the winner. But don’t take our word, listen for yourselves. Who won?
