The 25 Greatest Timbaland Songs Of All Time11:48 am | Thursday, June 3rd, 2010
In anticipation of the 2010 VH1 Hip Hop Honors: The Dirty South, which airs on June 7, Complex and Miss Info have teamed with the network to celebrate this year’s honorees with exclusive coverage.
Timbaland saw the future. That had to be what it was, because arguably no other producer had a more profound effect on the direction of popular music than the Virginia Beach-bred producer. He exploded the aesthetic template to include collapsing polyrhythms, hiccuping babies, and stop-and-go world music samples. He was Jay-Z’s most consistent collaborator, and knocked out a string of hits and classics with his muse, Aaliyah. When she died, he folded that creativity into the world of pop music, knocking out major hits for the likes of Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake. In preparation for the VH1 Hip Hop Honors, Complex looks back on 25 of Timbo’s best beats…

Agree with just about the whole list except for Jeezy’s 3am and Playa Cheers 2 U. I would replace them with Tim & Ginuwine’s remake of When Doves Cry and Bubba’s Ugly
Nia-Noo June 3, 2010 at 7:59 pm

These music posts Complex has been doing are legit. You guys really need to to a spinoff magazine. Resurrect Scratch or something. (Can’t remember the name but) I love the posts of how the hip hop community feels about certain tracks. Like the “Not Afraid” and “Power” ones. Please don not get rid of these ever.

Mook June 3, 2010 at 6:41 pm
Yeah I agree Dirt Off Your Shoulder should have been on the list. I agree with Are You That Somebody being number 1 that beat had so many sounds and it was amazing. Nobody will ever forget that crying baby in the background. Genius.
DJ Werd June 3, 2010 at 8:16 pm
dirt off your shoulder and hola hovito are 2 of jiggas best songs and they arent there??? and the potion by ludacris is INSANE!!
AlSween June 3, 2010 at 8:21 pm
Do I need to write this list over for you guys cause it sounds like Complex has no idea about Timbaland’s discography or have a horrible ear for music. No wonder people underrate Tim. You have folk really thinking Fabolous f/ Ne-Yo “Make Me Better” is really a top 200 timbaland production…wtf! I could literally name 200 tracks better.
Kush June 3, 2010 at 10:42 pm
Most of that list is on point imo, especially aaliyah at #1 with are you that somebody.
I cant believe i dont have a timbo playlist on my comp, this def prompted one

Yooooo! That top ten list is freaking amazing all songs def desered their spots. It kinda sounds like yall hate on his new stuff tho but i like both new and old the same. Timbo is def a legend.
Nashvillian June 4, 2010 at 5:40 am
Their is no top 25 best for timbo. You’d be better off listing his misses it would be a shorter.
Big Plus June 4, 2010 at 12:08 pm
Exactly, You need a top 100 atleast for timb or else everyone is gonna be crying or w/e cuz their favorite track didnt make it. I have to say Bounce should’ve made it tho, it took me like a week to catch it. Along with many other Timb Joints. This list reminds me of how nice Timb is, Living Legend obviously but he definitely isnt underrated. He gets due respect, It wasnt until he did his pop stuff tho I must say.
